Tool box for bike tools and oils

In need of a cheap toolbox for my bike tools, oils, sealant, grease, brake fluid, bleed kits etc. Currently have a home made wooden box with a drawer and open top but would like something enclosed that can be moved about. I'd like something deep enough to hold all the liquids, with a couple of deep trays or drawers for the tools. All the ones I've seen have a very shallow tray that would barely hold a decent set of Allen keys.

Any recommendations?

Same predicament just a short while ago

I started looking for a stackable / mobile tool box as a lot of these have a deep drawer with 1 or two smaller ones above

I got extremely lucky and found a used one of these for absolute peanuts recently

https://www.beta-tools.com/en/products/containers-and-assortments/trolleys/two-module-tool-trolley-25716.html

I keep liquids (cleaners, lubes, oils, greases) and rags / sponges in the bottom, bike specific tools in one drawer, general tools that I use on a bike in another and the box on top for anything from bigger spare parts to bags of zip ties

I keep an extra box with compartments for bolts / brake pads and parts / general small stuff on top of all of it as the tray that fits in the one I bought was missing

Works a treat

Looks like a sensible solution. Could keep spares in the bottom too. But probably much too expensive.

Looking for cheap. Sub £40.

Understandable, In that case, as was for me, eBay / gumtree / marketplace are your friends

I ended up giving £20 for the chest I have…patience and vigilance does pay off

If you’re in SW London ish, I’ve got one of these…
LifeLine Pro Rolling Toolbox

…that’s been sat in the corner of the garage doing nothing for a couple of years.

£20 to the air ambulance and it’s yours (or anybody who wants it 🙂 )

I had one of these: https://www.diy.com/departments/stanley-toolbox-trolley/66293_BQ.prd
for when I was doing the mobile bike mechanic training stuff.
it's not the most robust, but it worked for lugging stuff, including cut away BB shells, demo disc brakes and that sort of stuff, plus lubes and long containers, in and out of the van.

Had a look at a few. The plastic ones look quite good but think it prefer something with a couple of drawers for smaller tools. Had a look in Halfords at their 3 drawer tool chest at £39 which is a bit small for storing lubs/oils without putting them on their side and risking leaking all over the place. The next models up were over £100 so too expensive.

Look on eBay or the usual places for Sortimo L-boxxes. I have one of the older, cheaper versions of those Stanley rollers and it's good but not L-Boxx good. They're the standard tool cases for Bosch, Gedore, Fischer and Förch so pretty well supported and you can pick them up cheap if you're lucky. The deep ones are great for oils and aerosols.

My present box is like this but has plastic handles clipping the two halves together. Despite feeling and looking flimsy it's actually quite robust and has survived a good 15+ years of being flung into boots with bikes, falling over etc. Never had any issues with it splitting apart, I'm only looking at L-Boxxes now as they stack and something more modular suits my needs better.

I have to say that I have found the dewalt T-stak tool boxes great for bike stuff. Not too big and cumbersome, easy to use with a workbench, put in the back of the car etc.

I keep Allen keys, spanner’s etc in one of the smaller drill type boxes, so I can put in on the bench and reach stuff easily, and other stuff in the deeper circular saw type box. Usually loads on eBay for reaonable prices.

This any use?

Edit: Sorry, just saw the budget.

For £40 I'd get creative with Really Useful boxes and tool rolls.

Same idea as L-Boxx, just a different system. Whichever works best (I'm already starting to get into my Bosch tools so would prefer to keep things constant).

After a mishap with leaking suspension fluid in my tool box I now keep all my oils and stuff that can leak in one of those big, clear, stackable ikea plastic boxes and my tool in a separate tool box (currently a big, metal tool chest with drawers).
