The tandem of doom's latest incarnation.

To a singlespeeded, 26" wheeled, dynamo front hubbed, er, thing. With no brakes as yet.

Eventually it'll have some mtb rigid forks on it so I can run v brakes and then I plan to get some canti bosses welded on the rear.
It will, of course, still be a complete ****in' death trap. ;0)
I'm no tandem expert but fear this may not end well.

damned right ! ๐ฏ
If it lasts long enough it will hurt you.
only a mother could love that
gotta have a go on that. looks like ...a laugh?
That's working for me, I like your style.
Style - 10/10
Singlespeed? - Ridiculously foolhardy. Well done!
really should try fixed...
Are you taking all this trouble just to get it ready to ride it to the tip?
Someone needs to video your first off-road trip on that thing.
Tip?? Sacrilege!
This classic machine *may* be making an appearance at SSUK. It may even be pressed into service on our club's Real Ale Wobble mtb pub crawl in summer. Six or seven Real Ale pubs, at least a pint in each - what could go wrong?
Just so you all know that the T.O.D. is still being created - here's where we are up to...
I have got a Mtb fork with a 1" steerer so I can plug in a 26" wheel and have a brake:
As you can see I need to extend the steerer by about, ooh, a foot! I'm in talks with someone who has access to welding and brazing equipment.
Here's the beast 'forkless':
So, I still have the problem of no brakes on the back. My plan is to weld/braze a couple of bosses onto the seat stays in the appropriate place.
Just needed to find a 'donor' for the bosses...
and hack the little buggers off.
When/if I get my man to get busy with the welder we won't be so far of rockin' and rollin'. Yay!
Please tell me you aren't going to weld half a new steerer on!? That just isn't going to end well!
Great idea! What's the worst that could happen?
Your dentist will be delighted with your new forks.
I'm impressed...you're still alive!
Yeah I'm alive. I've not ridden it yet!
My plan with the forks is to insert a smaller tube or bar turned down to be a tight interference fit inside the steerer tube(s) and to weld to that. This should ensure that it's at least as strong as the original steerer. I might be mad but I'm not totally stupid. And I've got such loverly teeth it'd be a shame to smash 'em...
