I know it's a bit ghoulish to watch them, but wow they can be instructive, mainly in a How-Not-To-Do-It kinda way.......

Crashes seem split into 3 camps:

1) People, who 2 frames into the clip you can tell are, er, how to politely say this, not quite Jedi's on a bike, trying things that are quite clearly way above their pay-grade.

2) People with real skills trying serious, serious stuff, like massive gaps, backflips and the like

3) Stupid, silly, often unlucky crashes. Those ones that just happen, no matter how good, skillfull or prepared the ride is

Some absolute bangers on this one (literally):

So, after all this voyeurism, what have i learned?

Two things:

1) Know you limits people

and

2) Jumps and Drops are for young people......

Some of those are from years gone by! I had the crash at 3:34 downloaded and saved on my computer; from the days before Youtube existed.

How're your jumping skills coming along Max? Much progress?

ooh - I didn't like the one of that kid doing the rock slab drop and crashing head-first into another rock.

There were a couple of great saves in there though - "almost rode it out " ones.

Although not meant to be a crash video as such, I'm really enjoying this lad doing his video analysis whilst learning to ride.

^^^ Aaargh that one is just painful to watch! He really should be spending more time getting comfy on the smaller one, "shitting yourself" is not a good state of mind to be in when trying a new drop! ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Also that save at 1:18 in the video above is outstanding, love the reaction from the crowd ๐Ÿ˜€

That ^^^ vid shows exactly why the Chicky 'small' drop is the most dangerous, due to the tree on the LHS halfway down the slope!

You need to come into it turning left off the lip to avoid the tree!

The big drop is actually way safer as there is no tree to hit if you mess up the landing.....

Sad to say, not much / any progress, due to life getting in the way of riding this year ;-(

Gah, sorry to hear that. It's not really been the weather for dirt jumping so far though. Get yourself a BMX or jump bike to practice with. A Rampage Ramp and a kerb is all you need!

Good find that. Really like his videos - humble and personable.

You can't fault his enthusiasm or balls to be fair, but it's only a matter of time before he properly hurts himself.

Watch his vid at kinver for example, or at Cannock. Whilst the blacks at cannock are really pretty straight forward, hook a front wheel and go OTB on the steeper bits of those rocky roll downs on lower cliff for example and you could easily break your back landing in those rocks....
