The ones like "moon nebula" that were £13 the pair.

Does anyone have an alternative source? Aldis have all sold out around here.

Cheers.

They were £13 each, it was the knock-off Moon Comets that came as a pair for £9.

Merlin Cycles are doing the McCoy set for ~£68, plus Topcashback.

I'm sure eBay will be able to sort you out. Actually upon checking loads of chances flogging the Aldi ones at £25! However a search for COB bike light shows lots of the older versions for around £5. I've been running one of them for a year and it's great.

Saw some on Planet X/on one yesterday branded up as Jobsworth?

Edit: Comets that is, I was after a knock off nebula having missed out on the Aldi ones

As above they were £13 each. Well worth checking other local Aldi's (10 near me). They are really good lights and the 3 year guarantee is a bonus. They are much better than last years that now comes in a twin pack. I have 4 of the new ones and 5 of the older ones and I doubt the old ones will be used agai when the new ones are so much better.

As an alternative Alpkit sell a similar sort of light for £14. https://www.alpkit.com/products/tau

We've got the Aldi copies of the Moon Comet, not bad really - the switch is a bit dodgy but apart from that they are fine.

My wife's got one of the Alpkit Tau - quite impressed with it, about half the depth of the Comet so probably the battery life isn't quite as good (haven't tested it) and it isn't quite as bright but it's still bright enough.

mine lasted 1 ride, now won't charge, can't find receipt so 3yr warranty is no use unless I can get a copy from the shop. Was brilliant for the 1 ride!

Ah right it was the better moon nebula ones for 13 each I was looking for.

The problem tis that I don't want to pay more than £26 the pair now.....

I've seen a few of the Aldi ones on bikes recently, and to be honest thought they were a bit crap

i have some of the aldi ones.

they might look like the moon lights BUT the waterproofing is nonexistant .

I use mines as backups/pub bike lights but wouldnt ever rely on them,

ditch fodder.

I have 2 genuine moon comets an 3 Aldi copies. All are over a year old (some probably over 2) all have been used in all weathers and have survived just fine. I commute 5 days a week and the runtime is still as good as they were new.
The new nebula copies are much higher quality than the comet and I can't imagine why anyone would think they look crap. Even on the lowest setting they are ridiculously bright and the claimed runtime seems accurate. The clamps are good especially the seat rail clamp. Even if you do have a problem they are guaranteed for 3 years.

I must say, the Aldi Nebula copies have withstood three very wet rides and a good few damp commutes and they have held up fine so far.

I would suggest lightly greasing around the seal on the charging port and the button to add a layer of protection, but then, I tend to do this with all my lights.

I bought the pair but only for the rear light! Front light is completely unused somewhere in the garage

Alpkit Tau lights are pretty good, use them on my brompton. They're pretty low profile, more so than the Aldi/Moon jobs. I rate them

I got a front/rear pair of the boxed-separately £13 each Aldi lights.

What is the low battery indicator light because, despite running them on my commute morning and night since getting them they're showing no sign of needing charging.

I really wish I'd bought two pairs.

Eventually, a small led will activate near to the power button, but they do seem to go on forever before they require feeding.

@dickyhepburn

My light failed before even putting it on the bike and am now getting it replaced FOC and without presenting my receipt.

Spoke to a very helpful lady on the sales support line 00800 43 55 56. All she needed was the product code which for the COB front light is model ASL8185. She has popped a replacement in the post and should be with me in 5-7 days.

If you need to email the address is gt-support-uk@telemarcom.de
