Fast way down the Thames to 'The House' each morning cap'n. You could grace the red benches freshly excercised...

Far too high out of the water.

Also, why the actual **** does she need a helmet? Armbands, maybe. Helmet - probably not.

Judging by the width of those hulls it would need to be about 20ft long if you're trying to generate a good speed through the water given the relatively limited power output. Someone needs to develop a foiling version and then we're talking!

Foiling? Bindun.

AND it's an e-bike/boat!

Maybe I'm being stupid, but won't it have roughly 3x the friction of, say, a scull or a kayak? And go correspondingly slower?

And be completely terrifying in a swell.

Looks photoshopped onto the water, and it's not particularly aero, perhaps a recumbent version is on the cards for the Mark 2 model

Yes, but you try balancing on your seat that high above a single hull...

I think you mean hydrodynamic?

I remember seeing a pedalling boat competition on Tomorrows World or something years and years ago.

From memory the two fastest boats were tandem pedal powered hydrofoils. One of them was quite fast but uncontrollable due to a too small rudder to reduce drag. It looked absolutely knackered to get them fast enough to leave the water.

I think they look great.

Unlike canoeing your hands are free to use a phone to update your social media to tell everyone what a great time your having. I mean you've got to have something to keep you entertained.

It looks about as fast as a normal pedalo as well.

Answered your own question there, long way to fall. Also, helmets float, though I expect they're more useful as a corpse location device than a lifesaving aid, what with being on top of the head

Going by the video, they have actually made this thing! As martinhutch says, looks about as fast as a traditional pedalo.

Now why didn't they make something that you could leave at the dock, ride your bike down, attach it to and go for a ride on the sea?

She likes it anyway
