Cold and very crunchy up in the Pentlands.

Didn't stay out long as I had dressed warm enough.

Yes - a typo! I hadn't dressed warm enough as it a fair bit colder than I'd expected.

I'm up there a lot so should be able to meet up at some point.

Your shot looks like Black Hill in the background, so a couple of hundred feet away from this...

That fast approaching black cloud brought stinging horizontal snow so I had to dash back down the Poet's Glen singletrack to get out of the wind. The high road between Currie and Balerno road was white in seconds. Should be a bit more powder there now.

pixelmix - you must have been out a little bit later than me, as I was back home and working in the garage when the snow started falling again.

I don't think I've seen another Epic in the Pentlands for years (back then another couple of the mtbscotland folks had them). Here's a Pentlands/snow pic of mine from a year or two back:

Had a drive from hell up home yesterday, esp. from Kinlochewe to Gairloch - 15 mph, guided by slightly raised sections of snow on the cats eyes. Up this morning to...

Not sure the bike'll be coming out of the car today - it's just 'warm' enough the snow's all slushy... More coming this afternoon, Sledge-tastic! Here's the view across to Longa & Big Sand, Steve -

I've never driven that road in the snow - could be entertaining!

Last time we headed up to Gairloch in winter getting over Drumochter was bad, but from Inverness to Gairloch was fine.

Epicsteve - that boardwalk section by Balerno looks interesting in the snow! It's good fun in the early morning when no walkers are around though. You still riding your epic in the pentlands?

My epic is currently hibernating for the winter but will be back out in the Pentlands come the spring. This is what it looks like currently:

Nice pics Steve - I'll keep an eye out for you come the Spring. Unfortunately I only have one MTB at the moment, so I ride my Epic all year round. I can normally be seen out for training rides in the Pentlands early at the weekends, so if you see me, point me in the direction of some hidden singletrack!

Did a 35 mile road ride yesterday, last hour in the driving snow, today we have about 8 to 10 inches in nj usa, took the bike out for a quick ride only where the snow ploughs had been, as 8 inches is to deep to pedal through, i did try though, will may be go to woods tomorrow. I have put my flats on as sdp's are cr@p in the snow and ice
