[Closed] Third-party and accident insurance

I've been doing a bit of thinking recently (quite unusual in itself) - about what the potential consequences could be if I was to have a serious accident on the bike or get knocked off the bike by a motorist.

It occured to me that if I was to get seriously injured, to the extent where I had to be off work for a length of time, I could quite easily not be able to afford the mortgage. We have critical illness and life cover, but I very much doubt they would cover accidents whilst mountain biking or cycling. It also occured to me that I probably don't have cover for claiming against a motorists insurance if I was to get knocked off.

I've seen British Cycling offer cover for both the above - how do other STWers cover themselves for the above?

I've just been having a look at this myself. I currently live in Oz where I have this type of cover but I'm moving home very soon and I was looking to see who provides this sort of thing in the UK.

I haven't seen the British Cycling thing but Cycleguard offer this sort of insurance. Might be worth looking at.
