for trying some CX racing this winter to keep me interested. anything I should be looking for second hand? or anything to avoid? seen a few boardman CX bikes on ebay....had a boardman road bike and really liked it. are their CX bikes any good or a bit gash?

I'd suggest 2 key things if buying used:
1) Do you need/ want discs?
2) Will you use the bike for anything other than racing? - look for guard/ rack mounts etc if you want to commute/ tour, etc.
