Changing my slx brakes for hope tech m4 evo
Looking at them side by side the hopes are beautifully designed and finished compared to the shimano

Soon find out if they work as good as they look

New slx, I've got new xt on my other bike, but comparing them think the die cast look of the shimano looks cheap, and the stick on covers over the calipers looks tacky
The xt work great no complaints with hem , but aesthetically I think the hopes knock them into a cocked hat,

Couldn't agree more! Love my X2's. Beautifully engineered, and such a great feel in use.

You'd have to win if you carried on running in that state.

Anything else and you just look like an incontinent wierdo.

BLEED THEM.

The factory bleed will disappoint you. Make sure you do it exactly as Hope says and also do the rubber band method.

After much thought, I decided to go for the new SLX over Hope M4. I initially wanted Hope because they are blingy and I generally like Hope as a company, but after reading numerous over heating scare stories, I decided to plaY safe with SLX. Which were far cheaper. Saying that, the people I know who use hope have had no issues with over heating. And one of them is a right fat ****.

Ignore the naysayers, the current Evo Hope brakes have seriously good performance, to match the aesthetics. Amazed how long the OEM organic pads last too.

You do with many brake systems, if you have bought mail order. If not your LBS should be doing it for you. They churn brakes out at factories and don't have time to set every single one up perfectly.

The various Formulas and Hopes I have use have all worked much better after a bleed. The Hopes are easy, it takes about 20 minutes to do each brake. You are going to have to cut the cables as well unless you want lots of cable everywhere and the consequent reduced braking performance (shorter brake lines = nicer brakes)

Oh yeah, you will get overheating issues with SLX brakes and their mineral oil before you will with a set of Tech M4's. Unless you are running the nice an expensive combo of Icetech rotors and the 30 quid finned pads.

Thumbs up from me on Hope brakes generally. Easy to work on, great performance, and when they eventually get tired Hope aftersales is amazing.

I'm a big biffer and only ever overheated one set and that was because I hadn't changed the fluid. Ever.
