The list of Topics doesn't seem to be sorting by last update.. maybe related to posts not showing up (i.e. newer posts are affecting the sort order despite not being displayed)?
As a suggestion - I think having the last updated timestamp on a topic would be more useful than the current started date.
I'm surprised no-one's mentioned it, but the forum isconsiderablyfaster now (for me at least). Posting is still on the sluggish side at 10-15 seconds but thread refreshes are about 3.
Agreed that it is faster to post but it is pretty pointless when I can't then see my post as the forum doesnt show new posts for a period of time.
It’s far faster, I can see posts straight away.
@Drac that only seems to be on the Homepage - what I observed was within each subforum (Bike, Chat etc).
E.g. the Elon Musk topic has a last post at 11:56am but is shown above the Donald Trump topic which has a last post of 2:27pm (same date).
Just testing. Some threads are not showing posts, so doing a test here.
Ok, I can post here, but not again on the raised beds thread.
@frogstomp make sure you have this selected.

I'm on Chrome desktop and Firefox mobile and I don't have that 'Latest Posts' box.
I also posted a new thread in the bike forum and there's no sign of it yet.
EDIT: I just used my history to navigate back to my new thread and it's had 18 views but I still can't see it on the Bike page.

You need to select "Latest" on the top menu, it's the new Overview and does seem to work. I've never touched that drop-down. The individual forums were all over the shop last I looked (a while ago) and don't have that box, so Latest is my new default landing page until it's fixed.
Incidentally, as counterpoint to all the fault reports: Credit where it's due, I'm really enjoying being able to copy & paste images directly into the editor with no drama. That's saved so much faff for me.
Win-V FTW.
Is there a back to top button that I've missed?
"Latest" will help you to identify who posted last on a thread but it won't necessarily show you that post.
For example at the top of the UK government thread it tells me that BillMC posted something 2 hours ago but I can't actually see that post.
IME some threads update fine but others don't.

Dunno about mobile, I just fling the view if I want to go back to the top for some reason. Long-press / Open in new tab negates the need for this in most cases anyway.
There seems to be something amis with images in the classifieds everything seems to be stretched out
It's probably Flickrs fault. 🤣
I'm not seeing replies to posts despite forum saying last reply 6min ago yet when I click on it last reply is over 45mins
It does seem to be sporadic and I can't yet see a pattern, unless it's Tech switching things on and off which we don't have visibility of (cacheing, migration progress etc). I've had some posts appear immediately and others taking hours.
That ☝ was instantaneous. My last reply to Molgrips' "slow laptop" thread took easily two hours to appear.

IIRC Mark mentioned it had been identified users with a prolific posting history see more delays, that this should resolve as the old forum database disappears. I may have misunderstood though.

Makes absolute sense...a slow reply on a slow laptop thread...;-)

I was one of those suffering extended delays previously. So far, everything is pretty snappy for me.

Point is,
That issue seems to have been fixed some time ago. Rather I'm seeing different results on different threads when posting from the same account.
The new forum is still showing many behaviours of the previous incarnation, the difference between posts visible when logged-in and logged-out is between 7 and 10 hours
Yay, last post by... now showing. As well as a freaky zebra crossing themed main page 🤪
The new zebra crossing forum layout is terrible to look at, please can it go back to previous? Option for a dark mode yes, but not such a jarring contrast of light and dark.
The zebra look is very harsh. Headache inducing.
Is this an effort to actively drive users away?
Dear me, it was there briefly while they adjust code. Such drama.
+1 to kill the zebra crossing 😂
...and as I write this, it's gone. Much better 🙂
It now also says who made the last post again, great!
(FWIW, the site's working fast for me, no problems in that area for a while now. 👍 )
Looks good now thanks! 🤣 👍
(pops Ibuprofen back in the desk drawer!).
The whole forum experience is miles better for me over the last few days. I had a few ads displayed very briefly yesterday or the day before, but that's now resolved. I've had no noticeable posting delay for around a week. The "last post by" return is very welcome. I'm noticing small incremental improvements in functionality and appearance every day. The forum is now pretty damn close imo, to what we've all been hoping it could be for a very long time. I've voiced my frustration at times over the bumpy road to get here (soz 😊), but it seems to be coming good. Good work.
I held off renewing my membership at Christmas because the site was just not working. I am now considering the site performance to be satisfactory.
However will I be stopped from using an ad blocker at some stage even as a member? I am not prepared to do that.
Either subscribe or don't...if you can keep using an ad blocker then great, if not, it isn't your ball so you can't really be trying to change their game.
asked this before ...how do I follow or subscribe to a thread without commenting?
No ad block policy from us beyond not allowing anyone to promote them - which is an entirely self interest policy.
Drac: Testing mod tools.
hmm, I kinda think the red badge for full members needs to be swapped to the green used for free members 😋
for someone plagued by 'management' Excels with 'traffic light' systems, red always signals 'bad', but what STW ought to be highlighting is full members are 'green', ie all good!
'free' members might be inclined to switch to 'green' if their name's showing as red... ie to pay up!
ok, back to the spreadsheets 🙁
Red just looks a bit harsh. Your eye is constantly drawn to it.

I assumed that was intentional in order to not make the plebs feel like plebs.
Maybe blue would be a better choice.
Agree the red is a bit violent. I liked the old version with the STW logo, is that not possible now?
forum starting to look good again now. Thanks guys!
Really hadn't realised how important the 'last post at...' information was to me. Good to have it back
