I've got a week away in the new forest some time in April and just wondering what the riding is like? Is it worth riding the week or should I just take a week off instead?
It's ok but I've not found anything interesting there myself. If you have a car then you can mix it up with a bit of Lordswood or QECP?
Can be good if you know where to look!

Depends what you're looking for. If you're into DH you'll be dissapointed. It's not particularly hilly, but you can string some decent distances together if XC is more your bag, and you want to treat it as a training week (i.e. throw in some intervals etc.) and some of the climbs can be interesting due to the loose surface and deep ruts.
But for me it wins out when I want to bolt the kids seat to the back and take my nipper out. There's plenty to keep young eyes engaged, from numerous rail crossings to forestry machinery as well as the natural stuff ponies, pigs & deer etc. An 18 mile 'lap' with 15kg of moveable ballast on the back certainly hits the 'train heavy - race light' philosophy squarely between the eyes. Enjoy. ๐
