Looking at a camelbak Mule, is the mesh back one (the NV version i think) noticeably less sweaty and cooler to wear than the normal type?
I've got one and I would say it is a lot less sweaty, not sure I feel any cooler but it's not so bad putting the backpack back on after a stop mid ride.
Try a TNF hammerhead they have a mesh back which keeps it off your back, lot less sweaty than camelbaks and the blue one is half price in the sale at cotswolds
I have the Mule NW and love it so far. Used to own a standard-back tesco one and felt horrible when putting it on/off while sweaty. It fits a reasonable amount of stuff (sandwiches, tube, tools, 3l water, weatherproof, etc.)
I got one in the USA over a year ago now and have found it to be brilliant. I sweat like a fat lass in a chocolate factory and have found it to be the best ever - even on hot days hauling my carcass up long dragging hills.
sounds like they will be good for me then as i hate the sweaty back thing. Just seen the Deuter ones as well, and the Hammerhead mentioned by erny looks like a really good deal, will have to check one out in a shop tomorrow!
very pleased with my Deuter Race - very airy.
Vaude also do lots with very airy mesh backs.
