@Alex the climb wasn't too bad. It was cooler up in the mountains, there was a little cloud and I was done before the hottest part of the day.

Yesterday, I went to Afan. There were some pretty flowers.

Oh, sorry. That pic is from a previous trip!

After Penhydd in the morning, I set off to do Y Wal in the afternoon but gave up. I was getting very short of breath on the climbs and not feeling very confident on the technical descents. Just too hot.

@creaky - this is more my memory of the gap ride 🙂

Once we had really deep snow and I was worried about getting finished before it was dark!

Another hot day up in the hills above Finale and Noli. 37 miles and 1850 mtrs of descent on some amazing trails

Raced the thunder and lighting down the last trail as we had left all the roof vents in the camper open. Luckily the rain didn't arrive

Chatel bike park isn’t open, which has actually worked out well. It’s about an hour’s drive to Les Gets, and this week, I’ve learned a new appreciation for that area. I tend to spend a fair bit of time on non-bikepark trails, and the singletrack I’ve ridden this week has been beyond fabulous. and I’d forgotten how beautiful the views are.

Not far away from @trusty, but he has way better pics. Love that last one of the Wye.

200km up on the Whyte. And nearly about a further 1km as it came very close to firing itself off the trailer in a ballistic arc! See other thread for that! Getting over my initial battery anxiety,. Absolutely no need for the 250W PowerMore on a local ride. 1000m doable with care.

Happy Humpday Evening from Aberfoyle.

Was expecting to be sweating from my eyeballs, but there was actually a decent breeze. Had I known, I'd have gone for long sleeves and riding pants, as opposed to shorts: the trailside vegetation is getting a bit "Little Shop of Horrors". Conditions were what I'd call Aberfoyle-Dry.

I waited till it had cooled down to 'won't kill an overweight middle aged Scotsman' sort of temperature last night then jumped on my Levo for a later than usual (my alarm is set for 4.45am), spin around North Third, just to the south of Stirling. As usual, I had a couple of moments, but one of them could have been a whopper if I hadn't first noticed that the sapling at the side of the 'Planks of Doom' bridge had been removed. This slowed me up enough to further observe that the 'Planks of Doom' bridge itself had been removed and the drainage ditch deepened and widened!

Eventually found a detour that'll be a fun, and much less terrifying replacement once it's properly established and was able to continue on my way.

The conditions were perfect last night, although by the time I got home it was way past my bedtime. Luckily, I suspect most of my work colleagues were watching the footie, so it should be a very quiet and subdued day today.

Just a lovely summer morning up on Manshead; butterflies on a cool breeze, everything still green rather than the scorched browns and yellows of last year; tracks running well and no-one about.

and it's not even warm rain.

Still, the black pudding roll makes it all worthwhile 😂

IMG_7464.jpeg IMG_7464.jpeg I’ve got a lucky break - I’m a teacher and my school has been closed today and tomorrow because of the heat - but my kids schools have stayed open. So, 2 days to myself! I was going to do Cutgate which is only a 15 minute drive from my house, but decided with the heat a ride with woodland rather than moors would probably be best. Ended up doing a 10 mile xc route from home with some downhill trails thrown in along the way. Brilliant and back before it got too hot! IMG_7468.jpeg IMG_7466.jpeg IMG_7470.jpeg
