Ashover local spin from yesterday.
Ah, the Poets - grand pub, especially in winter with the fire roaring and plenty of hounds on walks. The Sunday carvery is decent too
A local overnighter to shakedown my kit before starting the Rebellion way a week tomorrow. Stunning evening. Air full of skylarks and the field I was in had several roe deer browsing in it. Pitching near an obvious badger set was probably a mistake, as their snuffling and grunting kept me awake. That and the "fizzy legs" from riding through nettles!
Morning spin around the trail centre in spectacular winter weather with a headtorch start. The wet has brought out the "leech-a-like" worms and I managed to pick up a couple of juicy ones.
And of course the photos are too big … until later probably
lo and behold my photo has miraculously shrunk!
this one was huge and sticky but is all scrunched up in the photo.
In the South Tyrol riding e-bike "tours" for a week. Yesterday was forecasted wet and didn't disappoint. Still got over 800m climb/descend before hooning it back to the hotel before the thunder caught us on the hill. Some really interesting history here- including this anti aircraft barracks that shot down exactly one allied plane in five years!
Today after 12 hours of solid overnight rain, we had a 50km/2500m up/down tour including a 1000m gondola ride. It was definitely approaching epic 🙂
Set out from Blanchland this morning in breezy but clear weather - all good over the Carrier's Way to Slayley Forest and down to Devil's Water. Broad Way over to Allenheads was an absolute slog into a strong wind and persistent light rain/drizzle. I sheltered from the wind and rain under a tree in Allenheads whilsy having a snack:
Then took the tracks past the old farms and mines to Rookhope and up to the top of Bolt's Law:
The strong wind was behind me all the way on the bridleway over Bolt's Law which made the run down from the top to the road an absolute blast. Finished with a warp speed descent of Buckshott Fell.
Cometh the summer, cometh the foxgloves.

The broom's hanging in there, too.

Playing on some of the smaller slabs in Squamish. Graded as blue!! but I’m happy at this level. Followed by some really fun singletrack
Managed to time my riding window today to mostly avoid the showers. 90 minutes / 25km on local trails on the SS HT.
Supposed to be a thunderstorm last night but it didn't arrive. Ended up a nice ride through the local woods and had a cheeky stop at the local chippy.
Yesterday in Spain
I rode one of my regular loops in Swaledale today, from Langthwaite around Reeth Low Moor and down Angry Man descent, then up to Whitaside on the road:
Then down Apedale and over Greets as the weather closed in a bit:
Followed by the Cogden descent:
With the loop rounded off through Grinton, up Fremington Edge and finally down through the Fell End mines back to Langthwaite.
It's been quiet on this thread for a few days - surely everyone can't be working flat out and not have any time to ride?!
Extended commute this morning on the gavel+ bike (rigid HT with fast tyres!). A Gnat's whisker away from a KOM on a fast gravel descent!

More a reflection on the weather not exactly making for great photography, I think. The pot of money left for the little people on top of Churn Milk Joan is accumulating; soon be enough there for a pint in the Robin Hood...

Batteries not included. I went out to do my usual, longer after work loop last night. My default for this is the Levo, but it's completely borked at the moment so I took my wonderful, poppy, huge grin inducing Stage 6 instead. Brilliant evening until I ran out of batteries at pretty much the furthest point from home.

Had a lovely ride on Tuesday on some trails that I don't think I've ridden yet this year. But as others have said not the most photogenic weather.
Another ride out on the Stage 6 evo last night.
Weather was perfect and a nice breeze on top of Winter Hill
Another morning pre-work ride in flat grey light - but the Valerian and Navelwort seem to like it.

Three Blind Mice at Penticton today. Ended being a short loop due to the heat 🥵. Great singletrack with small slab sections etc. so many trails!
Made it out yesterday for a ride in upper Weardale. From St John's Chapel up to Race Head via Seeingsike Road under some threatening skies:
Down to Cowshill - a landscape the bears the scars of its mining history:
Round to Rookhope and back down Carr Brow Moor:
Happy to have missed the rain that arrived in anger later.
Wednesday's group ride at Friston. Made it back to the top in time to see the sun drop behind the downs.
First ride of our tour today. What better place to start it than Finale
It was hot and dusty. The trails were running fast so no room for rider error.
Set off out early to try and beat the heat. 35 miles and 1700m of descent and we called it a day
It's also a bit hot in the Brecons at the moment. The Gap route today.
Although I've done the route a couple of times before, it was a while ago and I didn't actually ride all of the first part of the descent from the Gap. Today, I rode straight down with no bother but I think that's more of a testament to how capable bikes now are rather then any improvement in skills on my part.
It's much cooler up here. A splendid day to ride the highest road climb in the country - and then keep going up....

@creaky - I bet that climb up the old Roman road to the gap was a bit warm! I find the best way to ride the other side is close your eyes and hope for the best. It's definitely better faster. Until it isn't 😉 Still we generally only ever do it the day after Boxing Day, so heat and dust are not really problems we have to deal with!
After a post family hols ride last night, I decided to haul ones hairy a*** out of bed at 7am for what I'm laughingly calling a "power hour". Local woods are less than 15 mins by ebike, ride a few of the hard to find but really well built singletrack trails, investigate one I've always ignored (wasn't worth it but on the eeb who cares!), then home the long way before Heatmeggeddon melted the tarmac.
Another awsome but hot day riding in the hills above and beyond Finale. 39 miles and 2000 mtrs of descent
Every trail we were guided on today apart from the last drop down to the town were new to us.
Sometimes the local guides know where the hidden gems are.
And, as so often happens, the mist rolled in overnight. Coffee and porridge to a skylark soundtrack; contemplating my options given the predicted rail carnage.

Missed a group "solstice" ride Tuesday evening as I stayed home and watched the football with the family, so thought I would get up at 4 this morning and ride over the downs into work. Was a lovely morning, already around 25 degrees but there was a nice breeze. Not looking forward to the ride home as it's forecast to be around 34 degrees by then.

3 of us playing around in some steep woods on the edge of the North Yorks Moors last night. 32°c start (6pm), had dropped to 26°c by the time we finished. Prime trails but a bit hot for over 1000m climbing!
'Only' 25*C when I started my ride last night but thankfully cooled down during. Still 20*C at 10pm though and I'm not used to this.
Felt like a Deviate owners club: out of 6 folk last night, 3 x Highlanders, 1 x Claymore and the 2 non-Deviates also have Highlanders in their garage (although in my case that's Mrs a11y rather than me). Not surprising given you can almost see Deviate HQ in Kinbuck in these pics.
