Had planned an epic ride for today but there were storms all night and the route I wanted to ride had over 200mm of (unforecast) rain yesterday. At 5am we pulled the pin as it could potentially have been dangerous. It's the fourth time this ride has been canned over five years!
So my consolation was a 40km tarmac and gravel lap as the day was coming to an end. Lots of beautiful golden mountain views.
Rode a hill. Did 3 enduro-y lines. Rode into a valley. Up another hill. Into another valley. Up to some more woods. Met a friend. Did some more enduro-y lines. Got a lift home. 45km / 1300m climbing. Trails running superbly. Skies were a bit grey. Bluebells and Wild Garlic out in splendour. Legs now aching. Face is grinning.
Quick Friday evening ebike blast with the lads. Took the old Kenevo out as the Levo wasn't charged. Quick Guinness stop in Bakewell woods while taking some videos (will try and upload tomorrow) of a couple of them doing the little road gap in the background.
Turbo most of the way chasing the daylight so we could get a couple in at the Druids in Birchover before the last leg home (to the local 🤣). Everything running so fast. Fab ride with crashes and loads of laughs. Loving riding right now
So, my photos are from Thursday, so it doesn’t really qualify. Sorry for that!
I went to my buddy’s local trail area since this is close to prime bluebell time of year. There was a group of kids sessioning some jumps. Made me feel really, really old! (I’m not big on jumps, so I didn’t even ride the jump they were making look so easy!).
Wasn’t the sunniest day, nor the driest. But still great to be out. Isn’t mountain biking great!
Thought it's about time I tried to shift a few lbs and try and get some actual bike fitness back. Christ that was hard. Not been on a pedally ride for a good few months. Well and truly busting the myth that ebikes make you fit. 16 miles and a couple of thousand feet. I even pushed at times 😭😂
No riding for us this weekend. 4 bikes fettled, spares and tools packed ready for our trip next week.
Didn't take long so managed to spray the van roof with Wet and Forget
Local bridleway ride today, spoiled by a puncture towards the end. I will eventually go tubeless, just slowly gathering all the bits I need!

Was there cheese?
Only an hour from us, but never ridden "Smilog" trails. Was a bit disappointed by the lack of smoking mountain and a dragon, but the trails are brilliant. Reminded us of Golfie without the brutal climb! Was a bit wet, and every trail has a about a thousand off camber roots, but that just made it even more fun.
I was very aware in four days I'm riding the Marches and Castles route and did not want to get injured (I have some history here), but came away with no injuries and a big smile. We shall definitely be back.
Was there cheese?
Asking the real questions. No cheese in sight, what a bloody con.
Another little local ride. Got way too involved in filming on one of the newer trails - in a three hour ride spent as much time with the camera and tripod as actually on the bike...
Think I've finally found THE lens though (for those that care). Got a really nice Asahi Takumar 17mm fisheye now - on an M4/3 body it doesn't actually distort too much (since effective focal length is around 34mm) and gives a cool balance between vintage softness/character and sharp enough images.
Yes. I hadn't heard of it but looks like series 2 was all filmed around my local area
You're very lucky to have that on your doorstep, although we know that nature has unfortunately brought problems to you as well.
Lovely photos everyone, even if you didn't appear on my TV 🙂
I got dropped off and collected for a nice solo a-b ride. Norfolk arms to hope via redmires, stanage, Derwent edge, lockerbrook, hagg farm, elmin pitts and jaggers. Pint at the old hall to finish.
The Junior Reeks boys forced me to take them 2 hours south to Boomerang Farm Bike Park today. Only my second time. It's fairly hectic with virtually no easy tracks. I felt intimidated by all the 15 year olds with their V10s. Reeksy2 had never been so I played chaperone and let his older brother go off with his mate.
Didn't take many photos. Big day. Much fun.
Last road ride of the season, the mountain bike park re-opens next week. It was a good one, perfect weather with some good views.
Quick warm up along the coast again
700m of vertical climb later. Fuji lost a lot of snow cover over the past few days
Through some woods
At the usual photo spot
WTF's happened to the formatting of this thread? 🙄
Anyway. Quick local blast through the bluebells this morning. Reckon Bluebells season is my favourite riding time of the year!
Thai lunch at Chicksands then this
Second post about the same ride, but I though I'd do something with all the video I took to initially grab stills from.
And yeah, we seem to have broken the forum with this thread!
