Morning!
I'm planning to do a touring trip along the south coast at the end of the month. I've bought some ortlieb roller classics and now need a rear pannier rack.
Can anyone who owns these panniers recommend a decent rack which fits well?
Many thanks,
Matt
Is this for an mtb or road/touring bike?
Edit: I used my Ortlieb panniers with an OMM rack on a hardtail. Will also depend on whether you have qr's in the rear wheel.
Hi, It's a hardtail with QRs.
Were they a good fit with the OMM rack?
Yes, it was on a Rock Lobster but I needed 'P' clips too.
There's quite a few folk on here who have considerable experience of this, I'm sure they will be along soon!
Edit: I'll dig out a pic later on today.
I use a Tubus rack with Ortlieb panniers. Fit is good and adjustable. They come in either a 700c or a 26 inch wheel size. Tubus also make one for disc brake mounted frames. They are expensive, but there is a ready market for used ones if you come to sell it.
The clips on the Ortliebs have shims supplied. Along with the adjustable lower bracket, they'll fit (almost?) any rack. I prefer a rack with the added rearward extension over the rather scant Blackburn EX-1 type. If you have disks, the best option is the Topeak Super Tourist DX. The Tubus disk-specific rack doesn't always fit with disks. ๐
Cheers guys. The OMM and tubus racks are expensive although mcmoonter i take your point about resale.
Has anyone any experience of the Tortec racks?
Oh yeah, what are P Clips Cinnamon Girl?

yes - I have broken several. I would always go for tubus nowadays - All the money I have spent on cheap racks that break is far more than the cost of a tubus
I found the topeak disc rack heavy and clumsy . I have found no issue fitting conventional racks to any of my bikes - just space the bottom mount out a bit.
