So after the ard rock was cancelled I managed to get up to the lakes on Sunday for a bit of a spin. I don’t get up there much as it’s a fair drive and I generally mess around in the woods around Calderdale. It was nice to get away from the mud for a bit and ride on this rocky stuff they have that seems to have grip? Views were immense. Tbh I enjoyed it a lot more than ard rock (don’t tell anyone)

Anyhow buzzing from it and I cant help thinking about that south lakes bike fest at the end of the month now. I appreciate that im going to have to get a bit more riding in to really enjoy 2 days of riding but I cant wait. Are there any others from here that are going?

This is the link? https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/south-lakes-bike-fest-2019-tickets-61119468977

Whats it like compared to the ambleside stuff I was riding at the weekend? Im guessing the same? Is it harder? It was easily well worth the climbs for the descents but apart from fitness (and bunny hopping stray rocks 😊 ) is there anything to watch out for?

Rich posted a couple of suggested routes for last year's bikefest and there were "ride leaders" to keep you on the straight(ish) and narrow. Basically natural trails that can range from straightforward to all but unrideable.

Depends what the stuff you were riding at the weekend was. But expect plenty of stray rocks around Kentmere, and maybe a bit of pushing and carrying!

EDIT: Oh, I see you were with Rich. If you enjoyed Fairfield and Hole Rake I wouldn't expect anything harder than that (unless you want it)

Should be a range a loops and rides to suit all from family kids rides to long but steady to hike a bike tech. Nearest big stuff is Nan Bield Garburn and Ill Bell, but loops over to Troutbeck and Ambleside possible.

You'll struggle to find a cheaper bike party in a field with a bar camping and a band due to Richard's Scottish heritage.

Weather-watching turds, shurely?

Go on then, I'll have a ticket. If it's good weather I'll pass through on my C2C.
