You realise what you have isn't going to work.

Had a nice Friday night build of my P7 frame and was all ready to tackle the seatpost when I realised it's the wrong diameter as is my spare rigid post. Bollocks. I ought to have checked, but I didn't. Also it has an I.S rear disc mount, but that's less of an issue. Now I'm left with a collection of parts that look tantalisingly close to being rideable.

Anyone want to swap my 31.6 125mm Lev Integra for something similar in 30.9?

You need a chain.

My missus would have a fit if I finished the bike before filling that chase in the wall.

Please retake this photo with white balance corrected. I can't contemplate the bike until I'm reassured you don't have pink radiators.

Is there any point in that radiator, surely its too small to be useful? Or is the bike really close and the radiator several hundred feet away.

Yeah, but nobody would ever make that mistake, and if they did there wouldn't be photographic evidence of it. Would there?

Tan walls look brilliant

Where are you op? I may have a rigid scruffy 30.9 to tide you over?

It's a special headset radiator. For keeping headsets on adjacent bikes warm.

Could get on with all the cable routing whilst the seatpost turns up!

More to the point, you went to the effort of chasing the wires in, then put them in plastic trunking (pretty sure the regs say metal?) then once you'd done the really messy bit, didn't recess the box into the wall?

Bike looks great so far though.

Always good to get some perspective and realise all the other issues I've clearly been avoiding! 😆 That's probably one of the least distressed walls in the house tbh.

And if things look tiny that's only because it's flippin' huge.

Cheers for the offer, I'm going to see if I can get a shim for a 27.2 post that should do me for now.

Quick question, are I.S rear adapters still different to front ones?

Some are the same -20mm, but occasionally that doesn't work.

Definitely not, that would be a stupid thing to do.

And that, gentlemen, is why they invented tapered steerers.

Woodster - I've got a Cane Creek 26.2 - 30.9 shim if it's of use? It's in my thread here: http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/new-11spd-xt-32t-cheap-cassette-rs-bleed-kit-nos-look-cleats-bar-ends-more

More importantly, a P7 with tan walls should look the business once it's built!

Still haven't got a dropper that fits yet, but got a 30.9 post at least now. Just need to get the braided hoses to do what I want them to now!

nice. Those tan sidewalls wouldn't work on a lot of bikes but they do here.

Nope. Grips and tyres are hideous. Other than that it looks fab! Is that a garage door? Good grief.

Tyres look ace.
Grips are gopping.
Rear brake hose routing is nasty.
Overall, I'd give that 7.5/10, pending a rise when you sort out the grips and hoses.

😀

Love it! The wheels and tyres are just awesome! The grips less so!

is the rear hose long enough? doesn't look like there's enough slack at the front to sort out the straight line to the rear brake.
I'm in 2 minds about the grips - you could go for a light grey or a tan if you can get something closer to the sidewall colour - otherwise black maybe. What would look ace and suit the retro look would be some plain silver anodised bits n bobs

Yeh, the grips are from the parts bin, but I don't hate them, needs something to add a bit of colour at any rate.

The hoses on the M$s are all over the shop from being stored all coiled up, need to manipulate them back into shape and it'll look a lot neater.

The tyres were probably the thing that started the build since I bought them without a bike to put them on. Definitely helps make the XL frame look a bit less gate like, although it feels massive to ride.

Is this the frame on eBay? Fail if so, they're ace!

Well, it was more since I'm not sure whether I'll keep it and ebay had £1 fees, so it's not a proper ad yet. Could swap the add for one of the others tbh.

Too many bikes, too little space.
