My little lad of nearly 4 can now pedal, without stabilisers, for a couple of miles on his little Cnoc16. But even fairly gentle hills stump him, I guess he still doesn't have the power in his muscles which is fair enough.
We're heading to the Forest of Dean in the summer and want to do abit of pootling on the family friendly tracks there, so I'm thinking about the Trail gator or similar to attach him to me at times so we can go further and go up hills.
Anyone used one and had good or bad experiences? They look good but I'm slightly worried about the laid back position the kid has to ride in when they are hitched up.

Cheers

I used a Trailgaitor for years and they work pretty well. A bit heavy and connect / disconnect is not as slick as it could be but pretty sound and good for miles on fire road material. Be careful on the first few tight turns, the towed bike tracks inside and you can drag then through bushes. Some of the gates in the forest of dean can be a bit tight for a trailgaitor

trail gator is ace. Me and #1 son did many miles together, and when I flogged the gator off I got 75% of what I paid for it. Only down sides were making sure it was bolted on tight enough and the fact that he was prone to standing on one foot on the saddle while I was doing all the work

They are great - so much more flexible than a tag along bike. Means you can go out for a big ride & just hook them up if they flag a bit. Had a couple of scary falling asleep moments at the end of long rides!

Cool, I like the standing on the saddle trick!
Thanks folks.

They are great, but the only very minor thing I'd say is make sure it will mount on the steerer tube solidly first. The first bike we fitted it on took about two hours of ar*ing about to get it to fit on the steerer tube (which was quite slim) properly and stop it turning.

Should be fine on the Cnoc16 though.
