Was thinking of asking Santa for a heart rate monitor.
Do any of you have one and use it regularly or will it end up lurking in the man drawer?
Are there any recommendations at around £100?
Really useful if you are training for a specific event, after a while you kinda don't need such direct feedback.
Can recommend garmin forerunner 50, for £100 you could probably get the bike computer too. Has wireless usb dongle and plots your HR in a graph, plus speed, distance, cadence etc if you have the bike thingy. Was my gadget of the year.
Oh it's a watch too 😀
That's great thanks! There appears to be another whole world of kit here!!!!
If you can find an extra £30, pick up a Garmin Forerunner 305 from amazon.
Will do the HRM stuff, plus almost all of what a Garmin Edge will do, plus you can take it running. Either way you can get nice maps of where you've been along with speed/HR/elevation data to geek out to.
Even if you don't bother monitoring your heart-rate in the future, the GPS stuff (or even just a bike computer that doesn't need a wheel sensor) is well worth having.
