I've heard mixed review of the Superstar supplied hubs so I'm wondering if any one out there has any long term experience of these wheels? The price and weight is nice but are they strong and reliable long term?

Cheers.

The hubs seem decent. The builds are all over the place though. I've seen really excellent ones, and I've piss-poor ones that unravelled after a couple of rides.

Ok thanks. If the build wasn't great would it just be a case of getting it trued at my lbs or would it need rebuilding?

That really bad set needed a total rebuild- it was round and true when it arrived but the tension was so random that as soon as it got loaded up it just went horribly wrong.

Any one know what the rims are like?

I've had no problems with superstar wheelbuilds, would recommend them personally. Well, other than a set of DH wheels with bling looking spank spike rims that turned out to be horribly soft and dented very easily. But I think the hubs are generally great value.

Northwind - wouldn't you check the spoke tensions before riding anyway? I know you'll prob say ''you shouldn't have to on a new wheel build'' but you'd do it to be sure...no? Have recently had a new set of Mavic Deemax that needed some spokes tightened before the first ride. It's just prudent isn't it??????
