I've decided to treat myself to a Ti hardtail.

I'd quite like a Switch9er Ti but these are sold out until the Autumn and possibly too hardcore in geometry for my intended usage.

I'm looking at a Genesis Tarn Ti or Stanton Sherpa Ti to build up with 120-130mm Pikes.

It looks as if titanium Stantons are produced overseas so there's no production advantage to Stanton.

Anyone have experience of either frame in titanium? I know they are rare bikes but I'd like to get some input prior to committing that sort of money.

You can't go wrong with either, but what size you after?

Probably a 17" in a Sherpa and medium in a Tarn Ti.

Both have too tall seat tubes for me in the Larger size.

Stealth ad here...

I'm just in the process of popping my Kingdom vendetta X2 (size L - I'm 178cm) up for sale.. 140mm Pikes with luftkappe, hope hubs on flow mk3 rims, XT 10 speed running gear, renthal bars, dropper etc..

Pretty bling HT, but i've no real need at the moment..

Looking for circa £1700

Any interest, PM me

When are Stanton saying the Sherpa Ti would be delivered?

I'm sure they are UK made now?

I’m still considering a Ti Hardtail for winter duties.

Personally I’d give the chaps at Enigma a call and see what they can do for you. (I have two of their Ti road bikes and they are a different lass).

The product is superb - Signature frames hand built in the UK and the customer service is second to none.

Stanton make their Ti frames in the UK. I'm waiting to get a Ti Sherpa built up but getting the parts is tricky at the moment

The Sherpa's and Switch9er in Ti that are available to order are all Taiwanese made.

The tubes are taiwanese too, always have been as Reynolds cannot produce the tapers Stanton need.

Older Sherpa Ti's may be UK made, but I think a lot of the process was outsourced by Stanton and it is cheaper and higher quality to have it done in Taiwan.

Are you sure? When I last spoke to them they had shifted production to the UK.

100%

There are a few recent frames that were made in the U.K. but they’ve stuck with (or gone back to) Taiwan for the foreseeable.

I spoke to Dan about it a fortnight ago.

Frames are arriving very 6-8 weeks.

There’s no secret to it, obviously the £999 steel frames are made in the UK now with Reynolds tubing and the Taiwanese steel bikes are made from 4130 at £649.

I think there’s too much cost in extra tooling and skilled labour for the Ti rigid frames especially when they are so busy with the steel stuff.
