Setting up my new Tacx Satori (T1856) turbo trainer, I am getting a little confused by their setup "instructions". I want to use my hardtail (26 inch wheels) with some semi-slicks.
There are two adapter plates included for different sized wheels (they give dimensions), but the diameter of my wheel+tyre (i.e. the outer tyre diameter) fall between these two. Do I HAVE to use an extension plate, or can I simply mount the mag unit onto the frame?
The first time I simply presumed that the plate included for "mountain bike tyres" would suffice, however when I mounted it I could not fit the wheel into the frame because the roller was too close. Maybe this adapter is for wheels less than 26 inches? So then I switched to the other adapter for larger wheels. The roller now lies against the tyre although I have to wind the adjustment knob almost fully out. Do I HAVE to use an extension plate, or can I simply mount the mag unit onto the frame?
I'd appreciate comments from current or previous owners that have used this trainer with a MTB wheel.
