I have side to side drive side play - about 1mm - but enough to affect shifting.   I believe they are DT1900’s in disguise, SRAM XD.

Anybody have numpty level how to fix advice please?

Is the the Cassette where the movement is from if so then Cassette lockring?, if it's the whole wheel on the axle and the axle is tight then possibly a worn/collapsed bearing?
Some of the Syncros branded 370s have a threaded rear end cap. Don't think this provides any 'preload' function though.

If it's actually chainstays seatstay bushing wear the you'd get a similar result when grabbing the tyre and moving side to side laterally. Wheel play would be evident.

No this is wheel and cassette off, the XD free hub moves in/out about 1mm by hand, inside the end cap.

Push fit end cap or Threaded end cap?

If you haven’t already, take the free hub off and see if there’s any play on the bearings.

Ah ha.  Thanks Bearback.  It was threaded, and loose. A quick tighten onto the hub has sorted the issue, can’t believe I didn’t spot it.  That’s my winter wheels back in play.

Cheers!
