I'd like to swop from Sram (DOT) Guide brakes to Shimano Zee (mineral oil). Annoyingly the new bike has an internally routed rear brake.
Plan A was to leave the hose in place and just swop levers and callipers, but not certain about flushing the DOT fluid out.
Plan B is to use that little red connector which comes with a Reverb. Take the levers off both, connect the hoses together and pull through.
Is there an easier way?
I bought the red connector when we were doing the same. Guides to Saint on our Stumpjumpers. However we didn't need it as the internal hose guide is continuous from where it goes into the stay in front of the brake mount to where it comes out at the top, even had something to take it through the swing arm.
So what stops the DOT fluid leaking out inside the frame?
With the little connector it is surprisingly easy. Did my 5 in a minute or so. And I'm a poor mechanic!
