Hi does anyone know the Swiss equivalent to 1:25k OS mapping (i.e with paths and contour lines)?
Any online mapping sites that let you look at it?
The Swiss maps, including their excellent 1:25k series, are done by SwissTopo. They are probably the best maps I have ever used:
https://shop.swisstopo.admin.ch/en/products/maps/national/lk25
Even better they have online mapping that allows you to print to pdf (and thus print) at 1:25k:
The best thing is that the Swiss are excellent at keeping their paths open, so if it’s on the map it’s very likely to exist on the ground. I believe that this is because some of the people refusing military service are put on path clearing. This is unlike the French and their 1:25k IGN maps where it seems completely random as to whether a path still exists.
Perfect! Thanks Edd - this is the reason I love STW!
Hi, if you just want to click and zoom then the Swiss Mobility website (and apps) might be more accessible:
http://www.schweizmobil.ch/en/winter-en.html
https://map.schweizmobil.ch/?lang=en&season=winter&bgLayer=pk&resolution=250&E=2631750&N=1189000
You can create an account, which is payable and this allows you to trace routes, and save them.
Ah great thanks.
I use 'Viewranger' app, this lets you download the SwissTopo map tiles for your area of interest.
Locus maps.... OSM-Other Open Topic....
And it's free.... Enough detail and you can over lay gpx tracks.
Swiss Mobility app, free works brilliantly. You can load up walking routes, mtb/vtt etc (note vtt markwd routes are a bit “fireroad”, walking suggestions are better although need to check for suitability)

I find the paper maps hard to use as they are not as coloured as OS / IGN
I use View Ranger a lot too, have IGN subscription for France
