I'm taking a dropper post out of a steel frame and plan to use it in a carbon one and it has some light surface rust. I"ve wiped most of it off with a clean cloth. Is this OK to insert into a carbon frame without doing anythig more than adding friction paste?

Is it rust from the steel frame just sat on the post surface or corrosion of the aluminium post?

Then yes just clean it off and insert with friction paste.
