Hi All,

I have a spark plus with Boost rear end and want to swap out the xx1 crankset from 175mm to 170 to reduce pedal strikes. Can I use any xx1 eagle crankset and just put on the chainring that is on my bike to get the correct chainline for boos or is the boos part defined by the cranks themselves? Wiggle have cranks at a good price but say they are non boost compatible? I thought it was just the chainring that controlled the offset.

Thanks all.

It's only the chainring so any crank arms will do.

There are chainrings that count towards offset for Boost, Fat etc (AB come to mind) but as Ben says this one should be fine. Just commenting so that it didn't sound like 'no chainrings have specific offsets'. Generally, if it looks flat it's flat. If there's an obvious step or dish then you should probably look more closely ๐Ÿ™‚

I've just swapped the Raceface Turbine set up on my Intense with some Hope cranks, I've now fitted the boost hope chainring and you can see an obvious difference between the two with the clearance between chainring and chainstay being bigger, even with changing size, the chainline is also much straighter.

all this being said, with the standard ring fitted the bike was as useable and rideable..
