I know some of you wont have had a look yet not so much free time as i have !Ali wont find out until next time she drags bike from the garage :wink:I know there were brake pad failures Mr Knott had brake pipe problems and Jedi broke his front mech .I've just finished going through the Hummer and think i got off light .New chain time but knew that before yesterday just decided to finish it off and rear pads are going to want changing but not immediately .Tomorrow i'll go over the Kona after Saturdays Afan excursion .Hopefully same situation.
Anybody got big casualties ?I'm just about recovered enough now to believe i enjoyed it thanks again one and all.

So wet & cold that my pecker had shrunk. Does that count?

Just washed and lubed... the bike that is! Reckon I will need new brake pads front and rear. New spoke that was just replaced is loose again. Hopefully that is all.

Didn't realise you were there Rich, which group were you with?

I don't think I suffered any damage, except realising my 15 year old Porelle Drys are not in the slightest bit waterproof.

2 sets of brake pads, i was riding round for the last hour metal on metal

my BB is also trashed, not been over the bike so hope my wheel bearings are still good, not that i care too much as they are crossmax and easy enough to change and needs a new freehub anyway..

think i'll not waste any more money on waterproof gear too..

Brake pads... Both ends!

And the realisation that all my "waterproof" gear is not particularly so... ๐Ÿ˜•

Yeah , I burst the rear brake hose but I think that was transport damage(Im having trouble obtaining a new hose). Strangely I wore out one rear pad even though I had no working rear brake at all ! Im shocked my camera still works after the soaking it got. But that said it was a good day out.

My pads were near the end but I had to hodge them with some used ones at lunchtime, which are now also knacered. Apart from that the camera needed a good clean, I had a slow puncture, and my iPhone acted a bit odd for a while after spending the day in my jacket pocket. It remains to be seen as to weather the filth off my clothes has killed the washing machine though..... ๐Ÿ˜•

Brake pads both ends. Down to the backing on all four pads plus two mangled springs. They were replaced at lunchtime, yet to check the replacements.

Kit still has grit in it despite a cycle in the washing machine that was a pre-wash, long main cycle followed by an extra rinse.

Rear pads. They were resin and TBH I would've changed them this week anyway. Fronts lasted the ride, weirdly. Thats it really.

Eggbeaters need another rebuild.

Headset now very notchy - and when that goes, that's the end of the bike (1.25" quill so almost unobtainable now).

On the plus side, no brake wear at all (V-brakes)!

Rear pads gone, rear hub in LBS for new bearings and headset feeling notchy so that will need a strip and repack with grease. Still, great fun though!

Still filthy bike in the shed.

New brake pads needed front and rear (One rear pad is completely down to the metal backing).

Possibly need to bleed the rear brake as one of the pistons looks like it may have popped out too far due to the complete lack of any pad material left on the pad.

Spinny grip syndrome.

Soaking wet shoes and bag, both were showered off when I got home and are drying off on newspaper. All the bike clothing has been showered off and gone through the washing machine and is now hung up drying.

Hopefully nothing else will be found after cleaning the bike and re-lubing stuff...

My shoes will take a week to dry out!

Tomorrow will put bike in workstand and check brake pads, don't think there's a huge amount of wear left. That bike will then hibernate for winter cos it's going to be ss all the way now 8)

2 Set of rear brakes pads. Stuck rear brake pistons

Changed a pair mid-ride before lunch (cheers for waiting and to mark? who wisely brought a spare pair) and managed to destroy the 2nd pair by the end of the day ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

...Oh and a pair of shorts after a Mr. Jedi decided it would be funny to jump out at me on the trail...

Hey, WTRFPSU, when your headset wears out, don't write it off. You can get headtube reducers to convert to 1 1/8th (need a different fork n stem of course) or there's bound to be 1 1/4 out there still. If you're not a member of Retrobike already, that's the place to ask.

My bike (black Sunn hardtail/white Fox fork) survived unscathed - quick hose down n lube and she's good for next time!

DezB - yep I found the same thing on the Kirby Stephen ride.

PeterPoddy - my iPhone did the same at the end of the ride, screen stopped responding, just stayed dark for half an hour or so. It perked up again in the pub and has been fine since.

As for the bike, new rear mech time, mine got ripped off ๐Ÿ˜ฅ , and I'd only replaced the BB the day before, been a rather expensive weekend. Oh we had 14 punctures between 20 of us in 7 miles so you weren't the only ones out suffering.

jesus... sounds like a biking warzone! ๐Ÿ˜ฏ kind of glad I decided to have a lie in with the missus and a big fat fry up for breakfast, though did feel a tad disappointed to not be there to meet some STW'ers, maybe next time ๐Ÿ™‚
