They seem to use a non-standard size, 7901.

I've had to replace the rear hub bearings before, but it wasn't that size and I can't remember which size it was. I don't have the option of looking at the current bearings.

Can anyone tell me which other size is compatible? I know Surly say they wont last as long, but I had longer life from the replacements than the originals.

I'm looking for the alternative size to 7901, because they are expensive & hard to get hold of.

Hey, as far as I know it's the same size as a 6901 2rs 12x24x6 but angular contact with greater side impact and side loading properties.

Doesn't really make that much difference and a lot of companies have run 6901 bearings and it's been fine.

I have some jap bearings at good prices, why not check the specs of the bearing if I'm right, give me a shout.

s'pose £8 each is a bit expensive but from my experience they do last well.

we have them if you can't find them locally.

6901 2rs £6.50 each fully weather proofed japanese bearings. I would put them up against any bearings in the industry.

No problem, how long have the bearings that are in their lasted and do they have a brand?

Lastly don't buy cheapo rubbish bearings, they don't last very long and you will simply need to change them all the time, as in every 6 months.

I have bearings in that size coming into the country in a week or so, they work great in pivot points, however I need to test them in hubs, if you can wait I will give you some to test for free, if you can let me know how you get on with them I would really appreciate it.

Upto you, but the offer is open.

If you're still looking for someone to try these bearings out I need some for a Surly hub.

Feel free to send me a pair and I'll tell you how long they last.

My addys in my profile.
