I ordered a Sunrace MX8 11 Sp 11-50t Shimano - Sram Cassette from Chain Reaction as my 11-45 Shimano XT is kaput. They delivered a MZ90 12Sp (arghhhh). Question is, is it possible to use this one? Either by leaving a sprocket out, or would it fit? I would need a 12s chain and shifter presumably?
Funnily enough I ordered a Sunrace ten speed cassette and was sent an eleven speed one.
I didn't bother looking at it and have been running it for at least six months with a ten speed shifter and chain. I can still hit all the gears but the chain is slightly too wide for it.
So do you think I should just wang it on?
Is it worth more than the one you wanted? If so sell it and buy the right thing.
just send it back, do you have 11 clicks on your shifter or 12?
It's unlikely to be 12 clicks as that would be a 13 speed shifter.
You could be the first brave soul to test the rumour that id you renovr a spacer from a Shimano 11spd shifter it can be converted to 12spd. If my 11 speed cassette ever wears out that's what I'm going to try, if no one else has by then .
