Hi guys, heading up to peebles way this weekend, done the trail centre stuff a lot before but looking for something circa 25miles to do on natural trails (bearing in mind conditions for this time of year). I hear the selkirk race takes in some nice stuff.

If you had a gpx file that would be very helpful or a pic of a map or something?

cheers

Matt

You can go out on the Innerleithen xc to Minch moor then push on down the Southern Upland way. Few options there - tan it down the Minch moor rd to the village (Yarrowford?), then climb back up to around the 3 brethren and back along the ridge and take up the xc track again. Beautiful ride if the weather is amenable - quite a substantial loop to add on but would be around the 25 mile mark all in.

Gypsy glen is a popular ride from Cardrona - it's described on this site along with a longer one up Broad law - that trails tab up there that no one uses.

Sry no maps - but maybe some search terms to get you started.

I'd imagine Gypsy Glen will be very wet, the stuff in Cardrona forest and that area might be alright though.

I'd check the weather carefully before getting too adventurous, very strong winds currently forecast at the weekend.

Gypsy Glen (aka Peebles Ridge, Cardrona Ridge or Kirkhope Law) was wetter than an otter's pocket on Sunday. Couldn't really recommend that at the moment, gloopy and really, really slippy.

Minchmoor Road might be OK - basically start at Innerleithen, do the first half of the XC route but head E along the Southern Upland Way over Hare Law and down the Minchmoor Road to Yarrowford. From there head E towards Selkirk and do the climb from Philiphaugh Farm up Long Philip Burn to the Three Bretheren (there is a decent track all the way up that isn't shown on my OS map). Follow SUW west to rejoin Innerleithen XC route after Minchmoor.

Minchmoor Road might be OK

Unfortunately its a mudfest at the moment and best avoided.

Did some of the Selkirk stuff on Monday. Very muddy on the forest roads due to harvesting. Still a good ride out though but much more rain will make it a slop fest.
Gypsies on Tuesday (Part of) again quite muddy and the heather rut is no fun.

Minchmoor road as above might be your best bet.

Thanks for the info guys, really helpful, to be honest sounds like the natural stuff might be a no go particularly given the weather forecast ๐Ÿ™

noted for when the weather dries out though

cheers

Does anyone have a map of the mtb link route between peebles and innerleithen?

Gypsy Glen is ace. But I'd stay away from it just now. Was there two weekends ago and it was a complete mud fest. Some parts were almost unrideable!
