Following the success of the Lakes and Rivington rides I thought we might continue the monthly outings with a trip round Arkengarthdale and Swaledale.
Meet up in Reeth around 9.30ish for a 10.00 start - probably be about 25 lowey style miles but with a lot less gates.
If Donk comes I have a special extra loop for him!
Interested??

i am now a canivore again
that didn't last long 🙁
like my bikes...... 🙄
bastid........ 😉
BTW DJ, if you go up Fremington, you can turn left at the gate and follow the wall along to the downhill instead of taking the BW to the chimney...
fpb......... 🙄
I'd love to join you if I can scrounge a lift from Darlo.
will be good to see you all again and will be there
PS Donk will probably cycle over there on the day anyway
I'd love to join you if I can scrounge a lift from Darlo.
Mike - I think we might be able to manage a lift so keep the date available. Will be in touch nearer the time. 🙂
Would love to make it - prior Enduro6 engagements tho!
It really is an awesome place. I'll be up in June for the annual Swaledale Marathon (non MTB crazy fell run) - no.8 this year!
BOOKED!!!
The wife and kids have been informed that they will have to entertain themselves that day.
Cant wait!!
Gods own country, Swaledale, gods own country.
Gods own country
a grumpy kinda god that likes rain a lot 🙁
Nice one lowey - I am relying on you to book the weather as well - you did so well for the Rivi ride 😀
Thanks DeeJay!
(Just need to get my leg and bike fixed now...)

which one you looking at?....not sure which would worry me most actually
Check out the Bollocks!
before you get too jealous, a vet recently told me that a ram can only 'cover' about 40 ewes in a season or they just drop dead...
i might do this ride ss, as training for ssuk..... 😯
Is the proposed pace of this ride suitable for a fat knacker just getting back on the bike after a lay off ,
And can also offer a lift from the skipton area if it is not a race round
trout, you will not be at the back, that place is booked already.... 😉
that place is booked already
if he's on a singlespeed, Tony will spend most of the ride in a different county...
might do this ride ss
Why not use the Ventana in only ONE gear . . .
Trout - as lowey said of the Rivi ride - a relaxed pace. 8)
dave this 😯 should have been this 😉
OK count me in unless it is horizontal hail stones as I have been on top of fremmington edge with them and it was not fun .
Ton not bothered about being at the back ( i have got used to that now ) just dont want to hold the group up too much .
So will you all be going to Stu and Brenda Price's place at Fremmington,
Dales Bike Centre. Be a big shame not to give Brenda's cakes a go plus get your bike clean.
will be good to finally meet you Mr Trout ...suspect we will see a great deal of each other on the ride.
Will anyone actually be at the front ?
that fast old bloke with the camera....... 😉
26th ey.....
taking that everyone who is going on this arnt carbon freeks who love racing each other up the biggest hill they can find i might be interested?
Enjoyed the Rivi ride, but due to work comitments, count me out for this one.
Hope to see you out on another ride. 🙂
Taka - slow up - - fast down and lots of conversation in between
nice might come along then need to get a 20mm front wheel first though pain in the ass are thease new forks........
i might do this ride ss, as training for ssuk
I'll be on a SS, ton 😈
slow up - - fast down
I'll be slow up and slow down 🙂
<puts hand up>
given the repeated use of 'relaxed' and 'pace' in the above thread I feel qualified to attend and not make meself look too big a twunt!!
is there anywhere bike friendly to stay local to the start point?
Current plan is to drive up with MrsMM on the Saturday and have good look round the area, pub tea and all that. Sunday Mrs MM will doubtless find the local craft outlets whilst i ride the bike 8)
im in early start though gotta be gettin up a like 5:30 to get there lol (keighley)
Taka hell its only 1.5 hours to reeth tops You could come with us if you want Im Silsden with a van and 3 spare seats ..

Marsdenman - there's this or this Plenty of other B&B's around too.
Might be interested in this one too. Don't know about the rest of the 'Darwen Massive' but I think I could have a dabble. Oh, and I will be on a SS.
I am full of admiration for all you SS guys tackling Fremmington edge
I too will be singlespeeding up there 34/11 then walking when the peddling fails
trout cheers for offer but i think mi mothers taking the mutt for a walk while were out riding
anyways where about in reeth? meeting

yeah lift sorted for me then [:-)]

A very talented local rider with a handy vehicle he does not travel well and requires regular feedings of inner tubes .... remind you of anyone?

I heard he also has a penchant for falling off sheds.
Is this for whippets only or is there room for another fat bloke???
Feel free to join us - Ton could never be described as a whippet 😉
I reckon we are up to about 20 now.

A very talented local rider
Go on then 8)
I`ll be joining scotabroad, increasing the Scottish invasion by 1 🙂
I think I'll have to get in on this one too, might see if my mate fancies it too now that he's out of hibernation.
You never going to let me forget that detour are you deejay?
its OK I guess I deserve that.
I heard he also has a penchant for falling off sheds.
Wont be doing it this year now, been credit crunched out of the trip.......suppose I still could but all about priorities:((
I've no doubt if we go out riding enough you'll be there at some point to see me do something very stupid:)
I hope someone else is coming up with another route for a month after this Swaledale trip - getting quite into these rides now, really looking forward to it:)
Dave, any chance of an idea of route you have in mind ?
Wouldnt mind having a shufty.
Might be up for this if you have room for another 2 (will see if my brother is interested in coming)
"I hope someone else is coming up with another route for a month after this Swaledale trip" ....happy to do something.
Simonralli mentioned a Stanes ride so how many willing to travel to Dumfries?
My speciallity is extended rides around Mabie and Dalbeattie.
Can do the same for Ae but it means a bit of a hike through some trees and on to the top of a hill then follow some quad tracks. Then some farm track followed by some road back into Ae????
Can also do big day rides around the Lowther hills out of Thornhill/Drumlanrigg/Durisdeer
Got a good ride out of Moffat using the Southern Upland Way over to Same Ling centre and back. Again a bit of hike a bike for those that can hack it.
Then there is the Howgills
Just along the raod from Reeth is Hawes. Some good riding out of there over to Ribbleshead Viaduct and down to Dent and Horton in Ribblesdale and Kudu cycles.
Then there is Bowderdale. Start at Tebay?
Obviously tons of stuff in the Lakes.
So if you fancy doing any of that in June with Si and me or into early July(before 18th)post up.
June weekends I`m free are 6/7th and 13/14th
July 4th/5th and 11/12th
i think i can be tempted up to ride in scotia again trekster.
i think i am turning into a jock....... 😉
Howgills-Howgills-Howgills-Howgills-Howgills-Howgills-Howgills-Howgills-Howgills-Howgills-Howgills-Howgills-Howgills-Howgills-Howgills-Howgills-Howgills-Howgills-Howgills-Howgills-Howgills-Howgills-Howgills-Howgills-Howgills-Howgills-Howgills-Howgills-Howgills-Howgills-Howgills-Howgills!
do you think it is a hardtail day? or a full sus or a fr/dh/am bike?
What are you trying to say?
Aye scotlands a bit far away tho for a day trip.
Howgills tho, now you're talking, the Bowderdale route from Sedburgh is a cracking ride.
camp over though whilst you still have the freedom?
I also could be tempted by Scotland.
