As requested, Rusty-Trowel and Myself will be organising a lovely pootle around the beautiful "I love Purbeck" (think about it!)on April the 24th - all welcome!

Of course details will be finalised closer to the date, but will meet at the Sandbanks ferry side, take the ferry across (start saving for the 80p ferry charge..) - sorry C-G! - then taking in roughly 30 miles of beautiful Dorset countryside. Cake stop by Corfe, then lunch break at the pub with French phone signal is a must!

Probably have 2 groups, depending on numbers; Fast but not whippet group, and slower but not sloth group 🙂 Ideally meeting both groups up at lunchtime so riders can swap/stick groups.

So, anyone interested?!

Hmm I've never ridden the Purbecks before. Subject to the usual permissions, I'll try & pop down for the day :-).

Never been to that part of the World, so I'd be keen. How long will it take me to drive there from Barnstaple, d'you reckon?

Barnstaple to Wareham used to take me about 2 hours on a good run, 20 minutes to Poole so say 2hr 30mins ish.

AA routeplanner say 2hrs 45mins

That'll be 3 hours in my old van. It'd better be worth it then.

I'll be there, as long as it's not raining when I wake up. If it is I'll stay home and feel sorry for you all!

Sorry but I don't do raining.

Well done to DrP and Rusty!

This Swinley scum-bag will make an appearance 🙄

DrP - tell me more about this lardy cake cos I haven't eaten any since I left Alresford. Is it served warm? Can I pre-order some please?

Barnstaple to here isn't that far really, but the roads are rubbish. Traffic shouldn't be that bad though this time of year, especially in that direction.

Lardy cake is a pastry-sugar-lard coated bun, basically! Lush!

Will try to fill the boot with the stuff!!

Oooooo,a STW Purbeck ride.

I wouldn't mind tagging along if nobody objects. Rode the Purbecks last weekend and bloody rear shifter gave up on me after about 3 miles, so this could be a chance to give them another bash.

Agreed oldfart! A friend who helped at the Swinley ride is interested in this, she is now only slightly less terrified of Singletrackworld. 😀

Looking like good numbers! (and a nice 'bump'!)

Just to reiterate - all are welcome 🙂

FYI to the forum ride virgins - it appears 'lardy cake' is the snack of choice, so jam those camel backs full of the stuff in order to feed the trolls 😉

Just to add interest - there is a BHF roadie ride(not a blast) on the sunday, leaving from Wimbourne, which is just s few miles down the road from Poole.....
Could have a Purbeck MTB ride on the sat, then 66 miles of lvoely Dorset countryside on the Sunday....??

You'd all have to find accommodation though - my wife's not as placid as WCA's, plus you wouldn't want to be woken several times in the night by a crying baby anyway....!
