TN - it'd be good to have you both along; and you'll generally find the pace is a bit more steady anyway with such a large group working their way around.

"9.15am, Barber Booth layby then"
Won't that take all of about 3 cars? (next to the bus stop near the bridge just before the uphill to mam tor)

I may be able to attend this, I'll have to see nearer the time yet though

nah there's a bigger one just up the road if you aim for Jacobs Ladder IIRC.

We can always change to the car park in Edale for a start if people are concerned.

i'm afraid to say there is no way this ride can happen as the Peaks have gone, we transported the entire peak district back to the midlands in the form of grit and mud on our bikes/clothes/person. All that is left is the screams of pain of what remains of a load of brake pads.

Me and J are definitely still tentative (going to a birthday party the night before) and will still prob do our own thing following my pathetic performance yesterday. I am certainly not fit enough to ride with you guys at the moment... ๐Ÿ™

In correct. Peaks rides (if with other people) are never races. Just a nice relaxing ride out with people.

Summerwastin - That looks cool! I'm going to have to do that soon. However I think for a mass STW ride it wouldn't be a good idea ๐Ÿ˜†

Yeah don't be worried about it being a sprint - I think someone said something about snacks and sights stops? That's my idea of a good ride! Plus there'll be a few hangovers there by the sound of it! The loop's easily cut short too

No worries.

My suggestion would be...

http://www.bikehike.co.uk/mapview.php?id=26253

Done as a figure of eight, up Chapel gate and down Jacobs ladder. 21.3 miles (20 if you go from Barber Booth) and 3500ft of ascent.

How do all -

Right, after my sojourn to London I'm back. There's nothing quite like being stuck in traffic geekily checking things on STW on a blackberry.

Anyway,

I still reckon the 17 mile loop around the castleton bowl, then up Edale is the best bet. It's a decent mix of downhill/climbs/ and techy stuff, then fun blasts, and has get outs around it if needed.

And pub/cafe stops.

This is what i thought

www.bikehike.co.uk/mapview.php?id=26798

(love that little program by the way)

I'm most definitely a "hanger on". Nice steady pace, not too long a ride. Time for a chat on the way.

Can decide on the day and potentially do the path up to Hollins Cross instead, but the joy of it is you get a the bulk of your climbing out early on and have a general descent for the rest of the ride.

Have you thought about reversing that route? That way you start with a gentle road section rather than a steep climb and finish on a good decent rather than few miles of road.

Something like...

www.bikehike.co.uk/mapview.php?id=26800

It's 1 mile longer but there are ways to shorten it and once at Mam Tor you would have a choice of decents.
