Kramer - I'll bake some little post ride treats on your behalf, I know how much you like your food 😀

I don't think you're slow on the descents, just always falling off!

Marsdenman - please come along, then I'll have someone to talk to.

Sorry Jane - can't make it - would have loved to to catch up with everyone / meet new peeps / get some steady miles in before heading to the Q's for the Seb Rogers course - but, I've got a wedding fair to attend - got to sell my wares......

Now, if the next one could be the weekend of the 7/8th of Nov.....

Could not agree more - just felt I made such a burke of miself when I did invite folk this way and ended up guiding from the back...... 😳
Still, could possibly hook up with Keith (HPsource) and see if we could pull something together.... mmm

ton, if it helps you with route planning, everyones favorite bit of Ogden descent has been sanitised, the short fun rocky slabby descent that's near a small resevoir over towards Oxenhope is now just a simple track. 😥

I needed some inspiration to get back on the bike, but it's a Stainburn dig day and I haven't been for a while. 🙄

I couldn't work out on streetmap where it was, but I looked on an OS map so I think that's right. It's the bottom of Hambleton Lane where you turn left onto sawood lane and white moor lane. Real shame they filled it, but still worth doing it in that direction I suppose, for the ride down Sawood/white moor lane.

Yes, that's Hambleton Lane. It's just the very bottom bit before the gate which has been filled and smoothed over, the bit that was all fantastic rock, all the rest is still rough moor.

yes, we often do sawood/white moor lane, then up the road and back along the cheeky quarry bit: streetmap

I've only done it from left to right (on the map), not sure how it rides in the other direction.

A picture of the "trail builders" handy work. You can still ride down the field on the right dodging the grouse butts, which is still a reasonable descent but not as good as the original.

Looks like a nice bit of trail spoilt there...

Marsdenman a STW 'local ride' has been pencilled in for deepest darkest winter around us, so a bit of help with the route etc would be great, and a good excuse for a few training rides/beers.

Hi hp - happy to get involved - best just let me know the date first though!

AndyP of this parish could also be a useful addition to a planning team - if memory serves he's around Uppermill, certainly seems to know the moors around these parts well.....!

GIsburn, STainburn and Lee Quarry are all about equidistant. You can stop at NBT towers en route, but there's a good hour to an hour and half drive on the Sunday morning

okay, i told lowey yesterday morning that i wasn't gonna be riding this but the only reason for that is i didn't think my fitness/stamina would be sufficient... but now i'm not sure. i'd like to, i just don't want to be a pathetic loser that everyone gets sick of waiting for... hmm.

Lowey likes slow riders as more fag time for him
Good news as well Dave I have found a vegan Pork pie for you. Now if that does not cure your hangover nothing will (No i have not tried one yet but I am guessing at not nice).

Do you and Wors still require a sober driver to give you a lift Sunday?

johnnie if they're the holland and barrett "porkless" pies, then they're probably disgusting to your regular omnivore but personally i quite like them. but since it's been about 25 years since i ate a pig based pork pie, then i've not really got anything to reference them to!

and as long as the rest of the week goes without any hitches, then yeah i reckon i'll come along on sunday... i'll make some more home made vegan-friendly energy bars too, i think.

BH, it's not the downhill bits i'm concerned about... as you know, i tend to really struggle with climbing on loose rocky stuff.
but yeah i think i'll probably come on this ride.

Ton

Whats the chances of you organising/mobilising a Northern STW Massive turnout for a Stainburn dig day in Nov?

Numbers have been low and it would be a good chance for people to see the other side. With a good turnout we could hopefully bring the descent line extension to a near conclusion..

Enjoy Ogden

Cheers Jason (Singletraction)

Johnnie, not sure on our numbers yet mate. We may be three in which case on of the other guys will be driving. If its just 2 then I will gladly and thankfully take up your offer.

Going seeing the GP this week about stopping the fags too.

Only managed a quick road ride since but hopefully out on the mountain bike soon just not an all dayer. Have fun hope I can make another one sometime in the near future. Would appreciate an MMO of the route afterwards if anyone gets one. Ta,
