We’re riding King Alfred’s way and near to South Harting, one of our group has eaten through all their brake pads and without lifeline we might have to bail and get a cab back to Swindon, if anyone is in the area with a couple of pairs there’s a beer and cash waiting!

Not close enough, sorry. Could you mix and match worn and unworn pads (in the same calliper) from other bikes - may be enough to keep you going or get to a bike shop? Which direction are you going?

No worries, he’s been eking out the pads and then metal on metal for a few hours, taxi to Swindon (saves a wet bivvy in QE2 park), we’ll have to return - in the dry preferably!

Ah man, that's a shame.

I've got about half a dozen sets but not back till 9pm Monday

Can you post a picture of the pads???? I'm half an hour away from you and usually got a number of spare Shimano pads in the shed.

Thanks all, in the end we were cold and wet after riding all day in the rain, managed 80 miles (100 and Winchester our goal today) but morale a bit too low to risk a wet night out to then bail anyway tomorrow, the rotors are not in great shape after 30 miles of grinding and his brakes were pretty much seized - new pads yesterday at start of ride destroyed in the gritty wet muck in 50 miles today, probably resin pads as my sintered bb7s seemed to be holding up ok. Nevermind!
