I tried servicing my 2013 Fox Talas 34mm 160mm forks but for some reason the Talas cartridge was getting stuck when I was trying to remove it from the top of the leg.
At the bottom of the leg it slides nicely but towards the top it get stuck almost like the leg tapers internally. I watched a video and the guy tapped it out which I tried but it got tighter then stuck and I didn't want to hit it any harder.
I cant see anything stopping it and have followed the fox instructions to get to the point where I'm stuck.

Any ideas?

I put the fork back together with new oil and float fluid hoping I haven't damaged anything by getting it stuck. They seem to work OK but I would like to know why it wouldn't come out.

Thanks

Andy

It's in the left leg if that's what you mean. Or is there some kind of stop inside the leg and the unit could of been installed on the wrong side of it?

Thanks.

Remove it from the bottom of the leg.

remove the lower assembly out the bottom of the leg.

The upper assembly needs to have the rod inserted into the lower assembly when being refitted, insert the lower assembly up in the leg to make this easier to locate. HTH

Should it just pull out or will it need some persuasion? I didn't try getting out of the bottom as the videos and pic instructions showed it coming out of the top.
Thanks

Lower assm, will be a bit tight out the bottom, but this will mainly be the sealhead which is located into the lower leg with the spring clip.
Edit a seal may have rolled which would make it very tight
