Nice vid. Thanks for sharing. You don't really notice how pretty it was out there when you are suffering.

It's a good representation of the whole lap.

Shows the Somme before it got really muddy...

I like the soundtrack, much better than the usual rave tunes or flippin 'eye of the tiger' type crap.
Nice vid.

Remember seeing the guy with the taco-Ed wheel and wondering how he did it and how he was still riding...

Good video.

Sod getting that wet for 24 hours on an icy January night, they are made of tougher stuff than me.

Does anyone know rider No 500?

I sold an almost new custom built Surly KM a year or so ago to someone who said they where using it for endurance events, and it looks very similar to the one on that vid.

Just wondering, would be nice to know it's getting used well. ๐Ÿ˜€

Edit: Nice video!

Rider 500 is a friend of mine. It is a Kona Hardtail she is riding.

The steps at the start look terrifying! I hate steps! Seriously, looks good. Which bit was the Somme descent?

I must resist these thoughts that I could actually do it......

At 5.13 on the video? Deffo a Surly KM, and a beard!

The higher numbers are used for teams, so 500 was the number for a quad team rather than a single rider. All riders in the team have the same number.

You can see who was in the team here:

It's not that hard. There's geriatrics on rigid single speeds doing it. ๐Ÿ™‚

And then there's the 9 year olds...

What gear were you single speeders running on that course?

I started on 32:19, then dropped to a 20t on the rear in the early hours.

Thanks breadcrumb, a pretty low ratio, speaks volumes about the climbing.

TBH it's what I usually run, but I ride in the Lake District so pretty hilly.

6.6 miles per lap with 850ft of climbing, soon adds up.

I'd love to have a goal like that to train for, but it's the logistics, travel and camping I'd struggle with.
And I'd probably die.

The Olympic mountain bike commentators should adopt his style. I love it. 'Come on bobs bike shop ' ace.
