The UST versions will be the most robust, or try a DH inner tube; they'd be much the same weight!

Mountain Kings: great, can get the odd pinch flat. Like them.
Nobby Nics: Utter pish, can get loads of pinch flats no matter what bloody PSI I had in them. Hate them.

I'll be running them tubeless. I had a 2.2 ust MK on the back and ripped it down spooky wood GT. Was thinking of going large 2.4 MK or 2.25 NN

Tried to run ust MK's last year in the lakes, they lasted about 6 rides and had to be binned. The carcas just ain't up to riding rocks. I'm using ust Schwalbe Fat Alberts now, much much better tyre. Just a bit heavier but you don't notice it as the roll so well.

I have ripped UST NN's for fun in the lakes - side wall and top of tread area, but I have also done the same with MK'protection on the top tread but not side wall.
We had bontrager, conto verts, NN , Panaracer all splitting last week so best go back to solid tyres!

Have just bought some Conti Rubber queen UST's off here but I think they will kill me uphill so I'll be saving them for the Alps.
When I contacted Schwalbe about the terrible NN problem he said Fat Alberts would be best on that terrain so maybe worth a punt . HTH

I ride the peaks and scotland on a variety of 2.1, 2.25 and 2.4 NNs and find them the best tyre available, and the UST versions are certainly very tough.

I totally[b] agree Rolf as to the best tyre bit but the Lake District has loads of slate which hates my Nobbies

I've trashed 3 x NN UST 2.25 at Dalby in 7 rides - all sidewall issues. If you're a proper, manly weight or a skill-free biffer or both then they're best avoided.

I keep trying other tyres, but my trusty Albert UST 2.25 have yet to let me down. Much tougher than NN.
