For some reason, I keep busting shimano freehubs (deore/XT). Any recommendations for something a bit stronger? Sensible budget please! Or any pointers as to where I might be going "wrong"?

Shimmy are made of cheese. I used to do much the same, Hope are just dandy for me.

Hmm, might have to look at some Pro IIs I guess. Any other recommendations?

Killed a brand new stx one in 2 rides a few years ago, then i got hope Ti Glide, oddly its still in daily use now.
