Anyone done this?
I fancy a stealth look and was wondering how much effort it would be to strip a frame back to bare carbon

Danherholm knifing or etoe media blast.

I have dangerholmed a FS frame, it was a mission and probably 20+ hours

As BearBack says it takes a long time!

I have done quite a few in the past.. And it doesn't take long to get the 99% of the paint off.
But then it takes a LONG time for the last 1%, and actually get it looking good.

Honest opinion - I wouldn't bother

Quite a few threads on weightweenies about it if you want some inspiration.

Apparently soda blasting is "soft" enough to do it.

I spent ages striping and repainting a bass guitar. I chipped the paint in a week.

I am sure that a bike frame would be a magnitude of effort more effort and is much more likely to get crashed/ bashed/ scraped or the like compared to a guitar.

Argos racing want £550 to strip and repaint a carbon frame and forks compared to £250 for steel frame and forks. That says its a long job even for professionals.
