[Closed] Strapline required for winter cycling campaign...

I need a strapline for a winter safer cycling poster campaign... the strap line should remind local cyclists that it’s getting darker and they
need to ensure they have lights on their bikes otherwise the local coppers will slap them with a £30 penalty notice!

Looking for a message that grabs their attention and is humorous rather than shock tactics... Any ideas? 😕

Cheers.

what are they in contravention of for the coppers to fine them £30?

I don't condone riding without lights but it is legal in a 30 mph limit with a system of street lights not more than 186 m apart.

White light on the front?
Red light on the rear?
Of the coppers, have no fear.

"Don't be dim... be bright at night"

or shorten to:

"Don't be dim... be bright"

'If it's dark, get your lights on but it won't really make much of a difference as the f*cking idiots will still pull out in front of you.'

'From dusk till dawn not having lights on is so f*cking wrong'

or 'dusk till dawn means bike lights on' or 'dusk till dawn - bike lights on'

Bike light or blue light?

To be serious for a moment most of the issues I see around bike lights are not the fact that people don't have any it's the fact that they never think to replace the batteries.

Most people I see commuting in winter have very dim lights simply because they expect the batteries to last forever.

....and dont forget it needs to be British Standard 6102 part 3 approved and marked as such to be legal....

(That rules out stacks of our expensive lighting goodies as road lights).

I don't condone riding without lights but it is legal in a 30 mph limit with a system of street lights not more than 186 m apart.

Not actually sure that's true, that rule applies to cars dipped headlights and it specifically states that sidelights should be used an hour before sunset and an hour after sunrise. I dont think bike lights fall into "dipped headlights" - they're more position indicators and thus akin to sidelights.

I've come across that bit of info twice. Once at work recently while looking for something else in the legislation and the other time was from a solicitor who was making a claim for me when I got knocked off my bike (I did have lights by the way but she claimed I didn't).

Possibly it's been superceeded but I'm not sure it has.

Not sure Onzadog, that was my interpretation of it. But having said that my local police told me to park facing into the traffic to prevent kids running over my car (long story) - when questioned on the legality of parking the wrong way round he said "yes,it's illegal, but I've never heard of anyone being done for it". lol.

Put your light on, when out in Brighton.

...here's hoping your poster will be Brighton.

'Can't see this poster? Get some lights it's winter!'

Hang on a minute..........surely only people with lights will see the poster? 😉
