saw a road bike in the devon countryside at the weekend, both pedals were down at the same time. and when he pedalled, only pedalled with the left leg, and the right leg stayed down. i am sure i wasnt imagining it! i have been trying to work out why, and how the drive works since.

any ideas? a hollowtech disaster? or some kind of disabled modification perhaps?

If only one leg was pedalling then it may well have been a modification to allow for some form of disability.

Sounds like the guy who used to run / work in the Bike Shed in Exeter.

He had a a road bike with that pedal arrangement - one side was fixed, the other crank rotated, so he only pedalled on one side.

IIRC he had been injured and one knee was locked???

Nice chap BTW
