What's the collective wisdom on storing bikes vertically, with both wheels against a wall, using something like this

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mobile/MobileModels.aspx?ModelID=44984

Will this affect front and rear shocks at all?

No effect on shocks IME but the Avid brakes I used to have didn't like it much. Fine with my current Formulas.

As above, brakes are more likely to be an issue, they need to be properly bled, with no air left in the reservoir to find it's way into the system.Depending on the fork's damper system, there may be a possibility of oil draining from it, and taking a few cycles to return to normal.

Been doing it for ten years and had no problems with brakes or shocks (Hopes and Avids)

Use such for all of my bikes. No issues with the shocks, but the rear Avid on one bike tends to go a bit soft - but still works once pumped a few times. Biggest issue for me being that large volume tyres simply will not go in. My Nobby Nic 2.25's are hard work to wedge into place. You also have to be able to raise the bike way up so that the rear tyre rolls into the wall. For security I glued my wall plugs into place using No-Nails - friend of mine had his pull out. Get around the little problems and the things do save space.

It's recommended. Ideally front wheel up with your real wheel just contacting the floor to take the stress off top out bumpers/springs.

Got these in the shed for a mix of road and mtb bikes, have to top and tail them due to space. Worth taking time to space them out properly so the bars don't clash on saddles/ saddle packs (obviously by saying this I am admitting i didn't). Never had any problems with brakes

I'm getting 4 of these for my new garage: http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/TOBHHANG/bike_hand_wall_mounted_bike_hanger
Much cheaper than the crc ones

B&Q hook and bars turned sideways for me. Takes two minutes to straighten them up and saves loads of space. Only had a squidgy rear brake which needs a few pumps to pressure back up but no dramas. Do make sure that the front quick release is done up properly though, mine made a loud bang as it flipped over backwards... 😳

I just use simple hooks I think I bought from Halfords for fairly cheap. No problem with big tyres (2.5s).

Edit: think it was these: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductMobileDisplay?catalogId=10151&storeId=10001&productId=209547&categoryId=242557&langId=-1

It may lengthen your wheelbase.

I had a problem with some RS Revs leaking oil from the top cap when stored like this. I think this is a know problem with the fork vintage (circa 2006) and just needs a new seal.

You can get the Halfords ones for about £3 on ebay or even sometimes in Tesco for 99p...
