Hi all
Im moving house and the boxes Ive been using for years are truly knackard. Im after some boxes which stack and are strong enough for a significant weight of bike parts. a range of sizes for awkward bits like handlebars would be good. not too expensive as well
cheers
Jim
Similar position and bought some from BigDug on ebay.
I use a brand called "really useful boxes"
really useful boxes +1
"Really useful boxes" really are good, not cheap but strong, well made and stackable

As above. Really Useful Boxes are the best .... Not cheap, but strong ..... I use them for transporting race scooter parts and general storage ,..... I happen to sell them too through my business 😉
Solent Plastics do a good range of solid plastic boxes in a large range of sizes from around £3, I use them for my work kit - lasted 2+ years now, whereas the old thin plastic boxes I used to use would last a month.
Solent or RUB, as above.
I know of a guy who uses the Royal Mail 'stack and stores' they collect from the main admin office in their place of work. I doubt that they would be able to fit bars or frames but I reckon that the majority of small to medium components would fit. Saddles and folding tyres would probably be the largest items I suppose.
I'm pretty sure that Royal Mail would prefer this not to happen though.
I use a combination of old ammo boxes, and steel Veteran Series card index drawers. Very tough steel things.
I use a number of clear plastic storage boxes (with small wheels underneath) and with a lid. They came from one of the large stores like B&q and probably in a sale.
I like them as you can see the contents from the outside, stack them inside each other when empty, on top when full and the wheels help when moving 3 all stacked together.
I can check the size if you're interested.
I got mine from ASDA. They're fine.
Blue ones and the clear ones.

I just want to point out that *obviously* I've got more than two bikes.
Large Really Useful Boxes are normally 2 for £20 from Staples (in store not online).
I use them for work stuff and just use Ikea boxes at home on my shelving. You can get clips to keep the lids on.
Companies like this sell off used industrial-grade eurobox containers - much stronger than Really Useful boxes, and available in a whole range of stackable sizes. If you just need the boxes for the move then you can always sell them on again afterwards . . . .
I've used some of the cheaper boxes and they all crack and split eventually. RUG are much more robust. I built some shelving to place the boxes on then sorted by general stuff; helmet and glove box, shoe box, inner tube box... Going out with threee lots of kit every time means I keep two boxes spare for kit and spares from garage to car.
samuri, you seem to taken most of the bikes out before taking that photo 😉
+1 for those "really useful boxes".
B&Q were doing a set of 4 at the weekend for £20; various sizes, but the largest one was massive.
Think it was just a weekend offer though, but perhaps look on the website.
Ikea, see through boxes and lids coming in various sizes but all are compatible to stack together
Ive been through a load of different boxes over the years. If your 'bike parts' consist of some spare gloves, 2 sets of superstar pads and a 5mm allen key then the clear pastic boxes you buy in the supermarket are fine.
If you plan to fill the boxes with piles of chainrings, piles of spare mechs and cranks, vast assortments of unspecified stems, saddles and seatposts, and then drag and move them about to sort through, then you need something better.
I went industrial with some attached lid boxes, far superior and surprisingly not that much cheaper, i got a set of 65L boxes for £10 (used, ex woolworths!) and despite being a bit scratched they are still solid, straight and pretty much indestructible. Even new they are not much more than similar size clear boxes.

I have some of the wardrobe boxes from Muji that I got from a friend moving house. The stacking is good and the drawers work! Not cheap new mind.

I was just searching for something and saw this - 6 boxes for £15 at Arrrrrrrgos.

Or these, 3 large for £10.

*I have not used either of these items*
"samuri" that's far to neat a room! had you just moved into the property 😀 industrial grade tote tins [img]

can be picked up super cheap from liquidators or ind auction sites...or for new versions see here

they are stack able but don't have lids.
Ikea have cheap clear plastics boxes cheap at the moment. I picked up a few this week to tidy the spares and garage. Think my small ones were about £2 and the larger ones were about £8
neailwheel, those are great for a few soft things, fill them up or put anything heavy in and they dont last ime. Ive bust a ton of those ones in your argos link and the other ones you link are thin and flimsy so they flex and the lids never fit if you put anything heavy in them.
Supermarket boxes are good but often well scrutinised round our way, A bigger chain have been accommodating in the past though.
STATO - I imagine they are not very 'ardcore, but might be useful for the OP and a house move. I prefer the industrial grade myself too.
