Hi all

On the 2nd December, I was burglared and all my bikes and power tools were taken from my garage. In a nutshell, they broke into my garage through the roof and then used my power tools to break all the locks off my bikes and they also used my power tools to remove all the locks from the inside rear door of my garage to leave with all my possessions.

The police eventually arrested the guys on 18th December 2020 and found them to be in possession of numerous stolen mountain bikes and various mountain bike accessories. Enough was found in their possession for the police to drive forward with their investigation.

Through my own inquiries, I managed to locate these low life scum thieves within 72hrs and they are from Preston Lancashire. I have their full details but due to the ongoing investigation, my hands are currently tied. The police have said all my bikes have been sold and the police have various text messages from their phones that prove they have sold them.

If anybody comes across these bikes in the North West, please can you drop me a message and let me know or contact the police.

Bikes stolen:

Ibis Ripmo V1 in Black and Olive (medium)
2020 Fox 36 Factory Grip 2, Shimano XT 12 Speed Groupset, Shimano XT 4 pot brakes, Shimano XT pedals, KS Lev dropper post, Thomson Stem, Ibis handlebars, and Ibis Wheels, Hope Vision 4 LED front light, Lezyne Zecto Drive 250 front and rear lights, RRP Proguard front and rear (mine)

Orange Five (medium)
Shimano SLX Groupset inc brakes, Thomson blue stem and Thomson Black handle bars, Rockshox dropper post (mine)

Calibre Rake (medium)
Virtually brand new with shimano running gear (wife's bike)

Trek Pre Calibre 16
Orange in color (daughters bike)

White Halfords balance bike (son's bike)

Various Makita power tools were also taken. I would really appreciate any info to help get back my bikes. Please either let me know or the police know. I have photos of the low life scum, home address, and contact details. If you have had any bikes stolen around the Preston ends let me know and I can point you in the right direction.

These low life scum traveled 25 miles from Preston to burglar my garage and are known for stealing bikes.

Thanks in advance and have a good Christmas and New Year to all.

Not optimistic about the bikes showing up, but will keep an eye out.

Keep us posted on how the case goes, would be good to hear if the bastards get convicted etc.

Thank you chumbike, really appreciate all the help and support. I'm certain my Ibis is around the Preston or surrounding areas and was most likely sold as a complete bike. From what I know from the police it looks like they sold it for £1,000.

These thieves are known for stealing bikes.

Sure will Chakaping. I took numerous emails to the Lancashire Police Chief Constable Andy Rhodes and my Local MP to even get them to go around and arrest them nearly 3 weeks after the burglary took place.

Based on all the info I obtained and passed to the police they are the correct thieves that were eventually arrested. I have them on CCTV, their names and addresses. If the police had acted sooner there could have been a chance I could have got them back.

Hopefully, now this will lead to prosecution based on what was recovered at their home addresses after a police search.

Well done on your detective work.

How did you get their names and addresses?

Presume that you just started with good quality cctv pictures.

I had a garage broken into years ago, bikes and power tools taken. I know how gut-wrenching it can be.

If you set up some alerts on findthatbike.co.uk you might see them being sold even in a few months time. It doesn’t search Facebook, but covers eBay and gumtree.

Good luck 🙁

Thanks, duncancallum. Would be great if they did fall down very steep stairs.

@drnosh, where do I start...I was building a manual machine outside my garage on the night and the scum actually drove down my backstreet right in front of me. The van looked completely out of place and so they did they, literally drove past me with a meters gap between me and their van. That type of vehicle and those types of folk are rarely seen in my backstreet especially around 7pm-8pm in the evening, so I took note of their registration plate and made it obvious to them I did.

The following day after finding out what had happened I obtained CCTV from the shop across the road, you could see the same van was driving up and down my road numerous times that night and then at midnight the CCTV caught one of them coming out of the backstreet jumping into the same van further down the road and then the van drives into my backstreet.

Well, from the registration number I found they purchased the van from Preston a couple of days prior to the burglary and I managed to locate and contact the seller. I got all the details they provided and how they contacted the seller and then tracked them down from there. Just waiting to hear back from the police now and have emailed Lancs Cheif Constable earlier today asking for answers and an update.

I also called one of their numbers and managed to find out it was 250% them who had done it. These scum are just a bunch of low-life B@s***ds who take from others, ruin other peoples lives to help fund their miserable chav lives.

@stwhannah thank you and will get on to the link now.

How did they find you, Strava?

Sold as bikes or were they broken up?

Did you by any chance get frame numbers?

Good luck and well done for the detective work and the persistence.

Police have said they must have been sold as complete bikes due to the nature of them and also for not finding them in their possession when arrested.

Yes, have all details for bikes such as receipts and frame numbers. Persistence is all I have at the moment by pushing the police to deal with it.

Haven't even gotten round to telling my little girl her Trek has gone. Bought it for her 4th birthday and she specifically chose that color.

The knock-on effect from what those low lives have done is not pleasant at all but I guess karma always comes back around at some point.

Sorry to hear about this and hope you get the bikes back.

Why didn’t the Police do the investigative work that you have done?

One wouldn't technically recommend turning up in the early hours lost with some socially distanced mates.

But I've had circumstantial reports this can have some amazing effects on peoples memory problems.

I'm very very mellow but I abhor shite like this, and I'm not sure I'd be as nice as you if I had an address.

If they end up with no jail time, a pitiful fine and not nearly enough community service feel free to post their names and addresses and photos of their ugly mugs too.

@duncancallum I hear you bro and I'm being very patient at the moment. It's very hard to hold back but being very patient.

@endomick photos and names and addresses will be released once I know the police won't be taking the investigation further. Their details will be all over social media, a real name and shame.

@Gary_C thanks buddy

Thats crap I know around Cheltenham the police dont bother looking into out buildings or garages only interested if the house is broken into does not help you hope you get them back and some untimely nasty fate happens to the scrum bags.

Might be worth posting on the Rivington MTB Facebook, especially if you do decide to name and shame.

Since they drove 25 miles to get to you I'm guessing they knew exactly what you had. Any idea how they targeted you?

I’m gonna guess this

where do I start…I was building a manual machine outside my garage on the night and the scum actually drove down my backstreet right in front of me. The van looked completely out of place and so they did they, literally drove past me with a meters gap between me and their van. That type of vehicle and those types of folk are rarely seen in my backstreet especially around 7pm-8pm in the evening, so I took note of their registration plate and made it obvious to them I did.

Is how they knew what he had.
Why they drove 25 miles to cruise around a neighbourhood looking for stuff to steal is a better question.

@chakaping I'll get it up on the Rivington MTB group shortly

@Alphabet I sold a spare bike through Gumtree at the end of July and have now found out the individual who purchased it is part of the gang of thieves. It was sold in good faith and little did I know I was being scoped out.

@ayjaydoubleyou When they drove past they will most likely have seen everything in the garage and I guess that was their confirmation the bikes were inside.

@rubymurry thanks dude

Exactly this but unfortunately there is scum who get away with it time & time again, My bike was stolen last year but I managed to get it back the same night with the aid of a golf club and despite the scum brandishing a small knife he didn't get a custodial sentence when it came to court. Our friend Karma did come back and bite him in the arse though......along with his face.......and his hands/fingers. Back in august there was another spate of break-ins/thefts from the local fishing boats amongst other petty thefts and break-ins around the town and despite investigations and suspicions as to who exactly it was no one was caught/charged. Early September he was found on a quiet local road in a pretty bad condition having been very severely beaten up (my bro is in the fire service and being very rural they were the first responders on the scene and initially thought he was dead). It seems karma finally caught up with him and well deserved it was too. If there's one thing you learn having having been brought up in a fishing community is that you don't **** with the fishing boats/skippers/crew.

@duncancallum not much off FB as I don't really use it. I got most of their info through other sources, very reliable and legit. The correct details I handed over to the police led to their arrests. I'd love to mention more about the police update but don't want to jeopardize the possibility of a prosecution or them getting F@c&ed by the justice system. Yes, I posted on Rivvy MTB and put up some more pics of the Ripmo.

@somafunk Exactly what I'm talking about, then karma finally catches up with you!

@BrokenCollarBones

So sorry to hear this. The scum really do deserve severe punishment and the police need to take this seriously.

If the police found the text messages of who they sold them to why didn't they go to the buyers? They had their mobile numbers so would have been able to trace them so easy.

It's as though they make little to no effort to bring them to justice. I wonder why. In mu opinion it should be a 5 year stretch for the scum.

@matlockmeat thanks dude. In terms of the police it has to go through their usual internal system and process to find factual evidence and then they can act upon it immediately.

The question you have asked, I asked the police the same thing and above is what they said.
