Sorry in advance for the long post!
So in the early hours of tuesday morning, around quarter to two, my specialized allez triple and specialized stumpjumper were both stolen. I am a student as I mentioned in my last thread, so anything I have requires lots of saving! The most frustrating part of all of this is that 2 bikes which I put loads of care and time into are now in somebody garage or outside and will likely be neglected until they are no longer serviceable ๐
Thankfully the Stumpy was named on the home insurance, so I shall be getting some money back for that! The Allez isn't quite so well covered ๐
Instead of being devastated about the loss of my pride and joy I'm looking to what is going to be the result of this- a new bike!
My question, therefore, is what to get?
I was considering a new stumpy FSR Comp Evo 650b, and the base model Allez, as i have been offered a 17% discount if a use a certain bike shop. My other current idea is a YT Capra either the AL or AL Comp 1 (I may even be tempted by the Jeffsy?) I plan on spending the bulk on the mtb.
Any other suggestions are welcome and I will certainly listen... From the bikes stolen and suggested i hope this is a rough guide to the budget, as we have been given a value but this may change!
Many thanks for reading if you made it this far!
Cheers, Mathew
That's a good attitude pal, nice one.
Enjoy the new bikes.

Not sure if it's of any interest, but I'm putting a Large 2016 Stumpy frame for sale this weekend, along with some other bits.
I've never been a victim of bike theft, but judging from all the threads I see, it looks like it's out of control!
Gutted for you, but at least you've got a positive attitude after it all.
Johnw1984-are you putting your frame on Singletrack?
Hi Johnw1984, thinks for the heads up but don't have the gear or knowledge to build up a bike right now... Good luck with your sales!
Sadly a mate had 4 nicked this week too! It's ridiculous!!!
Jesus! 4 bikes? That's bad ๐
Choppersquad, I'll be taking pics and posting tomorrow.
I know your pain
I had three SJ's and enduro and a secteur nicked out of my shed and they got the exposure lights and the garmin, and all my power tools, grieve and move on.
but look at every bike you see some little scrote on it could be yours!
Wheelies?i have been offered a 17% discount if a use a certain bike shop
Lots of criticism of them on here - try a SEARCH
I've never had any dealings with them but suggestions of lack of warranty cover etc often come up
Had seven stolen and started again. The titanium road bike was replaced by carbon, the 29er rigid SS by a 26 SS hard tail. And the folder by some other bikes.
Don't go mad, spread the money according to HOW you ride now, not how you think you will. Road was my first love and took all the beans. MTB was teen 1's so he got a bling Trance. Teen 2's was an even spread of road and off road budget. He had the most balanced two bikes in terms of spec, until he grew!!!
Was the allez for commuting? Hownaboht something from Mango to replace it? Nice and cheap
Feel for you dude. I had six stolen in March, including a retro Cannondale that can't be replaced. Nothing has turned up on eBay etc. Luckily they were all covered on our contents and they paid out quickly.
I used it as a fresh start and financially came out of it pretty well due to the new for old policy. I was put in touch with Wheelies but took the cash and ran duvyonthe horror stories about hem and custom builds. Some of the money was redirected to pimping it my garage and making it a lot more secure.
Personally, I'd take the cash and but what you want from wherever. They may try and education your settlement by 20% but there is quite a lot of back up out there to say they shouldn't. I didn't do this because the payout was higher than what I initially asked for (what I'd paid versus RRP).
