Bike left unused in garage for 3 weeks, when I returned and rode it the rear mech shifting is soooo stiff. (XT). Bike is going in for service in a few weeks ( when SC) arrives is there a " get out of jail" quick fix that I can perform ( limited skills)!I've tried lube on the mech end exposed cable/outer,
Would a WD 40 spray into shifter help?? I know a knew cable is required, just want to get the next few weeks out of it.
Most likely cause will be the loop of cable housing to the rear mech. Replace this or at least give it the good news with some gt85.

Not in my experience.
Shirley this is the ideal time to have a go yourself at changing the outer and inner cables. Outer and inner only costs a few quid if you buy it from a traditional back street LBS rather than a SpecialiZed concept store or similar (I pay £1 per metre for outer / £2.49 for an inner). If money is no object or you like it pretty, then buy a technicoloured Goodridge kit. Plenty of instructions online, the only slightly difficult bit is the final indexing. If you can't get that spot on, then just put up with gear changing being a bit shonky for a few weeks and just ask for them to fine tune it when you take it in for a service.
I know it's high time I learned to do more simple tasks but we've got arise tomoz am and the Trance has internal routing.... Really want to be there in the morning
Oops " a ride" not "arise" Sir PIP
