Apologies for what is potentially a stupid question. I'm looking to replace my aged ritchey stem at the moment. I have found a Thomson replacement but it differs slightly in that it is only a 5mm rise vs the 6mm I currently have. Is this so small as to be inconsequential?
you'll crash and probably die.
don't do it.
Straight over the bars you will go a sailing.
If you are sensitive enough to notice then you probably cried when Bambi's mother got shot (no you won't notice).
Probably only feel like .8mm allowing for sag so should be ok.
You won't notice.
Also, it'll be 1 degree difference, not 1 mm
no
are you sure it's not 5 degrees vs 6 degrees rise?
Edit: wot clubber sed.
DEpends, what colour is the stem?
Haha thanks. Knew I was asking for a pasting ๐
Oh dear.
Everyone will laugh at you, 5degrees/mm is so not trend
You will be a laughing stock on the trails
Do it
Simply wearing a helmet should negate any adverse effects.
increase the pressure in your front tyre by 1psi, that should bring your handlebars back upto the same position.
or lower your stanchions by a few mm, that'll help it
Depends on the length of the stem to whether you'll notice it or not. A Couple of metres long you'll notice it, trust me on this!
